Sometimes a memory pops up that stops you dead in your tracks and makes you remember how blessed you are. This first picture is one of those moments. My wife is one of the greatest gifts God ever gave me. 10 years ago, our community was devastated. We all felt fear, pain, anger, confusion, and at times we just felt numb. We were planning our wedding, when we lost both houses and with no flood insurance (I know many of you can relate) on either one. That beautiful smile always gave me hope when it felt like there wasn't any. She never let me let me sit in pity. We got up, and with the help of a few friends and family, we rebuilt both houses ourselves. I can't imagine this difficult road without her love and perseverance. She truly helps me be the best version of myself. Bridgette Rushing Gilbert, I love you more than you will ever know. ❤

We’ve invited mayoral candidates John Cavalier for Mayor and Jim Gilbert for Mayor of Denham Springs to the shop for a meet and greet with you, followed by a debate. Ben Harris has chosen not to participate.

The meet & greet is your chance to introduce yourself, meet the candidates, and have a conversation with them. We know many of you will be coming straight from work, so we’ll have jambalaya available for you to purchase and enjoy.

The flood of 2016 reshaped our community. This is an emotional trip down memory lane and a glimpse into the future of flood prevention for our community. Special thanks to Parish President Randy Delatte for being committed to flood prevention. He has blessed me with the opportunity to be involved in this effort. As your mayor, I will continue to support President Delatte in the fight to ensure that we never face another flood of this magnitude. I also want to thank Mayor Gerard Landry for his leadership in the response to the devastation Denham Springs faced. 90% of homes and businesses in our city were impacted.
