Ok..I was talking to a friend about how Decatur used to really decorate for Christmas ALL OVER Decatur.. Not just the historical areas...
Do y'all remember Candy Cane Lane, or any of the other adorable painted wooden lawn decorations in the Westmeade neighborhood? Remember each street was a different theme...Or how Cleveland Ave..the entire Cleveland Ave would illuminate.

So I ask you to dig through some of your old photos and share these vintage photos or videos on this page...

Oh and it wasn't just Decatur, I remember going to homes out in the county and driving through their property enjoying the lights they had set up for all to enjoy.
So please, share your memories..

Back in the day.. on the Tennessee River was the Keller Memorial Bridge...
It was named for the state's first Highway Commissioner who served between 1911 and 1925, and who was half-brother of Helen Keller. It was the first bridge for automobiles, prior to that, folks had to use a ferry.
In the comments I was asked what year it was constructed and what year it was removed...
Answers:
Build finished in 1928
Removed: 1999

We've been through this before.. We can make it through it again.. The Spanish Flu and the 1918 influenza pandemic hit North Alabama and many died. But, many survived!
Wash your hands.. Stay home.. And of course pray.. Pray for our state, nation, and world to recover very soon from this desease.
