All Dearborn Public Schools will be closed on Friday, January 30, 2026

Windchill temperatures for early Friday morning are forecasted to be between -15 and -20 depending on other weather conditions. The district uses -20 as a threshold for closing schools. Temperatures are expected to rise throughout the morning. However, out of an abundance of caution for students in the early morning hours, a decision has been made to cancel school for Friday, January 30, 2026.

Monday is the first Zoom meeting for eighth graders and parents to learn more about two of our high school programs.
The Henry Ford Early Colleges are open to students from across Wayne County. The programs, housed on the edge of the Henry Ford College Campus, allow students to attend for five years and earn both a high school diploma and an associate degree at no cost to the family.
The Dearborn Center for Math, Science, and Technology is a half-day program for high-achieving students interested in STEM fields.

Dearborn Schools is moving to ParentSquare as the official communication tool for the district. Parents will be able to see all of the school and district news in one place, see school calendars, find notes from teachers, communicate with your child's school, and even fill out field trip forms! The app can also be used to automatically translate district communications and to set notification preferences.

We are encouraging families to download the app to get the most out of the tool, but parents will continue to receive emails and other communications even without the app.

Congratulations to Fordson and DCMST Senior Hassan Idris!

A Fordson High School senior is on his way to one of the most prestigious universities in the country.

Hassan Idris, 17, was recently accepted to Columbia University on a full-ride scholarship. With a 4.5 cumulative GPA and a perfect current 5.0 GPA this semester, Idris’s hard work and dedication are paying off.

Throughout his high school career, Idris has balanced a rigorous course load, including 16 Advanced Placement (AP) classes, while actively participating in clubs like the Arab Student Union, Student Council, and National Honor Society.

But academics aren’t his only strong suit. Idris has earned recognition in several competitions, including Business Professionals of America (BPA), Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA), the Southeast Michigan Science Fair (SEFMD), and the YES Business Competition.

As Idris prepares to head to New York this fall, he hopes his journey inspires other students in Dearborn to dream big and pursue their goals.
