🚨 SCAM ALERT 🚨

The DeSoto Police Department wants to remind residents to be cautious of phone scams involving callers who claim to be law enforcement officers, government officials, or bank representatives.

Scammers may tell you:
• You have a warrant for your arrest.
• Your bank account has been compromised.
• You must make an immediate payment to avoid arrest or protect your money.
• You need to provide personal or banking information to verify your identity.

⚠️ Remember: Law enforcement agencies WILL NOT call and demand payment over the phone, request gift cards, cryptocurrency, or ask for sensitive personal information.

1. Never provide personal, banking, or financial information to unknown callers.
2. Hang up and verify the information by contacting the agency or financial institution directly using a trusted phone number.
3. If something feels suspicious, trust your instincts and do not engage.

Protect yourself, your family, and especially elderly loved ones from becoming victims of fraud.

When in doubt, hang up and verify.

‼️FATAL TRAFFIC CRASH INVESTIGATION‼️

[DeSoto, TX] — At approximately 4:00 p.m. on June 8, 2026, a 64-year-old female cyclist was involved in a collision with a motor vehicle near the intersection of W. Wintergreen Road and Old Hickory Trail. DeSoto Police officers responded to the scene and provided emergency medical aid. DeSoto Fire Rescue crews transported the cyclist to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The incident remains under investigation by the DeSoto Police Accident Investigator. The driver involved remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Out of respect for the family, the identity of the cyclist will not be released until next of kin notifications have been completed. No additional information is available at this time. Further details will be released as the investigation progresses.

On behalf of the DeSoto Police Department, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of one of our own, Sandra Blair.

Sandra proudly served as a DeSoto Police Officer in the late 1990s and continued her service to this department even after a line-of-duty accident that brought her patrol career to an unexpected end. Rather than allowing adversity to define her, Sandra continued to serve with grace, dignity, resilience, and honor.

Throughout her years with the department, Sandra was a shining example of perseverance and strength. She faced challenges with courage and made it clear that her past circumstances would never dictate her future. Her dedication to serving others and her unwavering spirit left a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside her.

Sandra, your warm smile, gentle laugh, and kind heart will be deeply missed throughout these halls. Your legacy of service and determination will not be forgotten.

Rest easy, Sandra. Thank you for your service, your strength, and the example you set for us all. We have the watch from here. 💙🖤

📣Public Service Announcement | Ordinance 8.12 🔔

* To: All DeSoto business owners and residents
* Subject: New Ordinance (Section 8.12) — Prohibition of Certain Amusement Redemption Gaming Machines

📋 The DeSoto City Council recently adopted Ordinance Section 8.12, which prohibits maintaining, displaying for patronage, or otherwise keeping for operation by patrons any amusement redemption machine or gambling device within city limits. A person, firm, or corporation that violates this ordinance commits an offense and may be subject to enforcement action.

What this means for you:

‼️ Businesses (arcades, bars, restaurants, convenience stores, game rooms, etc.) must remove or cease operation of any amusement redemption machines or devices that fall under the ordinance. Continued display, maintenance, or operation of prohibited devices can lead to citations, fines, and other penalties under city code.

While most people were sleeping, our officers were answering 8,302 calls for service, responding to major crashes, making arrests, investigating crimes, and staying proactive throughout the city.

These numbers are more than statistics they represent real people, real situations, and officers making split-second decisions daily to help keep DeSoto safe.

As summer approaches and school lets out, we typically see an increase in activity throughout the city. Please continue to stay alert, lock your vehicles, and remember: if you see something, say something.
