Our hearts are so heavy. Till Valhalla brothers. Your names will never be forgotten. 🫡💔

With both families now sharing their grief publicly, we feel it is time to speak from our hearts as well.

Today, our hearts are incredibly heavy as we mourn alongside the families of Sgt. Howard and Sgt. Torres. We grieve the loss of two brave Iowa Guardsmen who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country in Syria. There are no words that can truly ease this kind of pain, but please know this—you do not grieve alone.

We lift our prayers for the three wounded service members, asking for strength, healing, and a full and speedy recovery. Our prayers also surround their brothers and sisters in arms, who continue to serve while carrying the weight of this profound loss.

This is a deeply sad day for Iowa. We have lost two of our own—true heroes who answered the call to serve and gave everything in defense of others. To the families and loved ones affected, we stand with you in your sorrow. We will support you in whatever needs arise, now and in the days ahead.

The names, service, and sacrifice of Sgt. Howard and Sgt. Torres will never be forgotten. We will honor them, remember them, and carry their legacy with us for decades to come. 🇺🇸

‼️LONG BUT AWESOME POST AHEAD‼️

After a long two months of no drill due to the shutdown, Echo Company finally got together to get some work done! It was a long weekend of Admin oriented stuff but our Soldiers were able to get some good training in.

As an FSC we are responsible for the maintenance, fuel, water, and support of the 224 BEB. Since we have not been drilling we had a lot of maintenance work to catch up on and thankfully our Soldiers are motivated and proud of what they do so they all got to work and started wrenching and processing parts! We are so thankful for all of our Soldiers.

We also had the privilege to award our Maintenance Warrant Officer CW2 Obert and Former Supply NCO SSG Gayman AAMs for all of their hard work this past year with a MOB and JRTC. Without their hard work and dedication to our Company we would not have succeeded the way we did. THANK YOU BOTH!!

Also! 🚨PROMOTION ALERT!!!!🚨

We are SO happy to announce that our very own SPC Kimmel was promoted to SGT Kimmel within our company as a 92G Culinary NCO! He is currently deployed but we can’t have to have him back home and do amazing work as an NCO. Congratulations SGT Kimmel!

Thank you to everyone who continues to like, comment their congrats, engage, and share Echo Companies posts. We want to show everyone that our Company is the best organization to be apart of and we love to continue to share what we do with friends and families.

SUPPORT THE CASTLE - WITH HONOR! 🏰🤘

We are wishing a Happy Thanksgiving to everyone on home soil and those who are across the pond away from their families. We are so thankful to have such dedicated and amazing Soldiers within the Echo Company ranks.

I also want to recognize and congratulate SSG Kenneth Schmidt on his promotion to E6! Hitting the Staff Sergeant rank is such an accomplishment and it shows all of the dedication he’s put into the Army. They also had Brigade CSM Joshua Luck make an appearance during the ceremony which is a huge privilege.

After his promotion, SSG Schmidt went and competed in the 1,000lb club - a weight lifting competition to where you try to get a combined weight of 1,000 lbs between deadlift, bench, and squat. He lifted:
320 Squat
275 Bench
462 Deadlift
Which totals to 1,052 lbs! Such an accomplishment and shows how much work he has put into his Physical Fitness while oversees.

We also had a few Soldiers kick off their Thanksgiving running the Turkey Trot 5K! Pictured above is SGT Dustin Davis CRUSHING it and working up a sweat for a big Thanksgiving feast.

Our Echo Company Soldiers are continuing to do amazing work in support of OIR. We are so proud of them and us back at home will keep on completing our home mission until you all get home.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

‼️CALLING EVERYONE THAT CAN TO HELP‼️

This past Sunday, one of Echo Companies Soldiers, SPC Brennen Neblung, got into a very serious car accident and was life-flighted to Iowa City Hospitals where he has been fighting for his life. He has already been through so many surgeries and still has a long way to go.

If you have had the privilege to know or serve with SPC Neblung, you would know he is a funny, caring, and dedicated man. He came into E Co with a determined soul to do his best and he has done just that. We are so lucky to have him in our ranks.

This is only the start of his battle to get better due to he is going to need extensive care and rehabilitation if he pulls through. The cost for current treatment, future surgeries, and medical care are going to be astronomical. His family and his military family are asking for any donations and prayers that you can give.

Even just sharing this post will be helpful.

Thank you.

Please help us congratulate our deployed Soldiers on their promotions to the next rank!

SFC Jacob Simmons
SSG Morgan Hesselbacher

Each of them have shown exceptional dedication, discipline, and commitment to excellence which earned them the privelage of stepping into a greater responsibilities as Noncommissioned Officers. This marks the beginning of a new chapter where they will guide, mentor, and set the example for others to follow. We are confident they will continue to uphold the Army values and make a lasting impact on their Soldiers and their unit.
