On April 8, 2026, TFC. Ryan Mara #650 and K9 Kash #9017 took part in a career day event held at the Thompson Middle School. Students learned the job duties of State Police and k9 handlers. TFC. Mara and K9 Kash also performed a K9 demonstration for the students. After the demonstration the students had the opportunity to meet and play with K9 Kash.

Troop D, in coordination with the Town of Sterling and First Selectman Jack Joslyn, is investigating the illegal dumping of mattresses on Porter Pond Road.

The Connecticut State Police Troop D extends our deepest condolences to the Uxbridge Police Department, Officer LaPorta’s family, friends, and the entire Uxbridge community following his tragic line-of-duty death on January 7, 2026.

We stand with our law enforcement partners during this difficult time and honor the service and sacrifice of Officer LaPorta.

There are no words.

A Son lost his Dad.

A Community Lost their Police Officer.

Another successful day collecting toys for the Tommy Toy Fund! Today wrapped up our final collection day, and we want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to everyone who donated. Troop D is proud to welcome three new Trooper Trainees to our ranks.

TPR Tetreault, TPR Ryan, and TPR Zonghetti have successfully graduated from the 137th State Police Academy following 28 weeks of intensive training. They will now begin a 45-day field training program.

Please join us in congratulating them on this accomplishment and wishing them success in their careers.

**Killingly Shell Gas Station Burglary**

On November 28, 2025, at approximately 03:34 AM, two masked individuals wearing gloves forcibly entered the Shell gas station located at 439 Hartford Pike (Rt-101) in Killingly. The suspects were operating a newer-model white Nissan Rogue SUV. The vehicle left traveling westbound on Hartford Pike.

Troopers recovered an empty cash register in the roadway near 118 Hartford Pike, and two additional empty cash registers were recovered on Mashamoquet Rd (Rt-101) at Brook Front Ln in Pomfret.

Request for Video Footage:
Residents and businesses along this section of Rt-101, as well as anyone who drove the area around the time of the incident and had a home surveillance system or a dash camera, are asked to review their footage for any sightings of the suspects or the vehicle.
