Malaya Daly City got a chance to interview a retired leader from Hawai’i’s ILWU Local 142, Federico “Fred” Galdones. Fred shares his thoughts on the current fascist attacks on workers, identifying that under neoliberal conditions, corporations are taking the profits that they make off the backs of workers, and investing it to expand their businesses rather than investing in the welfare of workers.

From Philippines to Crockett, People Over Profit!

Malaya Daly City is in solidarity with the striking workers of ILWU Local 6. These workers are on strike at the C&H Sugar Refinery in Crockett, CA, fighting for a fair contract that provides a living wage and retirement benefits.

The sugar that is being refined in Crockett comes from Negros Occidental in the Philippines, where the recent massacred happened that took the lives of 19 individuals, including Lyle Prijoles, Kai Sorem, RJ Ledesma, Alyssa Alano, Maureen Santuyo, and Errol Wendel. This sugar is already tied to blood.

Malaya Daly City calls for an end to this bloody supply chain! We stand with the workers until C&H Sugar meets all of their demands!

❗️ABOLISH NTF-ELCAC!

On June 26-July 2 in New York, the UN held a so-called “Counter-Terrorism” Summit, where a delegation from the National Taskforce to End Local Communist Armed Conflict was present. Under Duterte’s regime, this taskforce was established to terror-tag and repress human rights defenders & organizations speaking out against the human rights violations in the Philippines.

The NTF-ELCAC specifically held a townhall in which they terror-tagged Lyle and Kai, all while misleading and inviting local Filipino youth organizations to join the event.

Malaya Daly City welcomes the unsealing of the arrest warrant for Former Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa and the second impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte.

CCTV footage circulating online shows dela Rosa running away from accountability. The warrant alleges that during his time as Chief of the PNP, at least 32 people were killed. However, we know that thousands died as a result of Duterte’s bloody war on drugs. Bato dela Rosa needs to be surrendered to the ICC and held accountable just as Rodrigo Duterte is facing at The Hague.

Meanwhile, Sara Duterte is facing her second impeachment for misuse of public funds, amassing an unexplained amount of wealth, and threatening the Marcos family. The Duterte camp made political maneuvers in the Senate to oust Tito Sotto and appoint Alan Peter Cayetano as Senate President. The Filipino masses are calling for Sara’s impeachment over her corruption in office, and the Senate must uphold the calls of the people to prosecute Sara for her crimes.

Malaya Daly City condemns the fascist attacks on Negros Island!

We demand justice for Kai Sorem, Alyssa Alano, Errol Wendel, Lyle Prijoles, RJ Ledesma, Maureen Santuyo, and all victims of the Toboso massacre. We welcome the Commission on Human Rights’ decision to launch an independent investigation of the incident. The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) need to be held accountable for violating international humanitarian law!

This past weekend Tangol Migrante as well as Bayan Norcal organizations were able to participate in the first annual ! We would like to thank for inviting us to table & share about the ongoing issues of health & safety for caregivers. At boogiedown we were able to outreach to the public about Kuya Rodel a caregiver who passed away on the job & fundraise for the repatriation of his body.

Prior to the approval of Kuya Rodels body being repatriated, the PH consulate denied his documents for identification to prove that he’s a Filipino citizen. As a result of this past weekend outreach and fundraising efforts, Kuya Rodel body will now be repatriated home! We celebrate the people victory and continue to demand for PH consulate to not discriminate against undocumented migrants & release Assistant to National Funds.
