This morning I saw a comment that a woman who used to work for my abuser/father made in response to my post promoting this page on a community forum and instead of becoming angry with this woman (her comment was in support of him and in doubt of my post) I just became sad. I was sad because I was swiftly reminded of exactly how blind people can be. Even when I post the police report, verifiable and all, there is still this one person who refuses to believe what is right in front of their eyes. No one can know for sure why, but I can guess that perhaps she doesnt want to believe that he may have done something at least inappropriate with her child, who she claims was around my abuser all the time.

The NYS legal system failed me when I reported my father & abuser, Timothy P Howard, when I was 14 years old (even though he admitted to it😡) due to the NYS statute of limitations in the year 2001. Then, I got my hopes up this year when NYS passed legislation to extend that statute of limitations However, the new law still didn't help me get justice because it didn't extend the statute of limitations far enough. If they had made the statute of limitations longer by TWO (2) dang years, he would be in court right now facing the criminal charges that LEGALLY he should have faced a long time ago. While the new law brought justice to so many more people, the system failed me, yet again, as well so many others in my same situation. They should have completely eliminated that stupid statute of limitations, like they did with r**e cases a while back. I won't go into the details of the abuse done to me, but r**e is not solely defined as "pe*******on of the va**na or a**s by a p***s"; r**e is pe*******on by ANY OBJECT, not solely a man's p***s. Therefore, what my father/abuser did to me for the majority of my childhood years was actually r**e, as defined by the updated law. I have called the local police, attorneys, and the district attorney, but no one seems to know why he isn't being charged with r**e and that is infuriating. We all need to band together and force the courts to recognize these facts and sentence the perpetrators, instead of ignoring any of these cases.
