I extend my deepest condolences to the family, loved ones, and colleagues of Officer Chris Fisher of the Warm Springs Police Department, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty. His service, courage, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Well… miracles do happen. The DA’s Office softball team won its first game of the season.
Thankfully, our conviction rates are still higher than our RBIs — but for one glorious evening, we managed to remember how to swing a bat and run in the right direction.

Proud of this crew. They work hard, they care deeply, and every now and then, they even play a little ball.

I was saddened to learn of Miss Dolly Parton’s passing. Her music and movies have been part of my life for as long as I can remember — from childhood all the way to today. Whether it was classics like Jolene or iconic films like 9 to 5, she had a way of making you smile, laugh, or think a little deeper.

But the work of hers that stuck with me the most wasn’t one of the big hits. In 1992, when I was still just an older kid, she starred in a movie called Straight Talk. In that film, she sang a song by the same name — and anyone who knows me personally understands why that one hit home. For better or worse, I’ve never been known for sugarcoating anything. Dolly’s message about honesty, clarity, and saying what needs to be said shaped more of my early thinking than I realized at the time.

If you have a free moment and want to remember a wonderful lady who did wonderful things — many of which never made the spotlight — take an hour or two and watch Straight Talk. It’s funny, it’s warm, and it shows the comedic and musical genius that made Dolly Parton such a gift to all of us.

Newt did what he does best today — offering calm when it was needed most. A witness suffered a panic attack before testifying, and Newt quietly stepped in to help steady the moment.

Sometimes courage starts with a paw on your knee.

Today, Newt was called to do what he does best—be a calming presence. 💙🐾

Behind these doors, a witness experienced a panic attack just before testifying. Newt quietly stepped in and did what no words could do. He stayed close, offered comfort, and simply was there until the moment felt a little less overwhelming.

This is why he’s here. Not every part of his job can be seen or shared, but moments like this remind us just how important his work can be.

Sometimes the biggest job is simply helping someone find the courage to take the next step. 💙🐾

This morning, the Paulding County District Attorney’s Office provided an update on the multi county investigation involving Bobby Lee Hart, Jr., who is presently under indictment in Douglas and Cobb Counties for multiple sexual assaults. Evidence indicates that Mr. Hart may have been operating in Douglas, Cobb, and Paulding Counties since 1988.

(Dallas, Georgia) — District Attorney Robert S. Lane announces that on June 24, 2026, a Paulding County jury found Jacob Christain Marr, 27, of Dallas, Georgia, guilty of Sexual Exploitation of Children (O.C.G.A. § 16 12 100(b)(8)).
