City of Murphy - Government Murphy is just over 5 sq miles with a population of 22,866. This eastern Collin County city has a highly educated and diverse population.

Residents enjoy 10 public parks, numerous city events and a commercial corridor with over 70 places to eat & drink. In 2005, the current Municipal Complex housing City Hall, the Police Department, the Fire Department, and the Parks and Public Works Building was opened. In 2011, the Murphy Activity Center opened, and in 2012, the Old School House next door opened as a Community Center. Murphy citiz

Today, the City of Murphy Fire and Police Departments came together to pause, remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others.

Our 9/11 Memorial Ceremony at City Hall provided an opportunity for our community and first responders to reflect on the courage, dedication and selflessness shown 25 years ago. Together, we honored the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call and all those forever impacted by September 11, 2001.
