Women's Equality Day is a bittersweet recognition of how far we've come, and yet, we still have so far to go to make our Texas government one we deserve, one that works for us too.
Texas is a dangerous place to be a woman - this must change. We owe it to future generations of Texas women to look toward the brighter, safer, fairer Texas on the horizon. It will take courage and hard work to get us there, but I know we can get there with your help.
Today, we honor the women who fought for our fundamental rights, from winning the right to vote to securing financial independence. But honoring their legacy means continuing their fight.
Women still face systemic economic barriers, healthcare disparities, and lack of bodily autonomy. Today and every day, the fight continues for equal pay, federally mandated parental leave, full access to reproductive healthcare, and an end to gender-based violence.
The work is far from over, but the LGBTQ Caucus will fight every day for the rights of all women.
