Cleanup in progress at the Eagle Picher Carefree Battery Superfund site in Socorro, New Mexico! 📍

The construction is evidence of our continued commitment to prioritizing human health and environmental protection, while simultaneously growing local economies.

EPA is constructing a new groundwater treatment facility at the site. Recent work includes constructing the well vault, preparing the water treatment plant trailer area, and developing an infiltration basin and overflow channel for treated water.

Once operational, the treatment system will help address contaminated groundwater and support EPA’s ongoing cleanup efforts to protect the surrounding community and environment.

From cleanup to new use at the📍South 8th Street Landfill Superfund Site

, the Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment and Enstructure LLC recently teamed up on onsite activities that show how safe, productive reuse can bring a property back to life.

The 16.3-acre site was used for municipal and industrial waste disposal. EPA’s cleanup included stabilizing contaminated material and installing a protected soil cover. Today, safeguards remain in place while portions of the property support industrial and river commerce activities along the Mississippi River.
