Bridges Summer Program:
Serving over 250 children yearly. Over 18,400 contact hours with children in the summer of 2006 according to attendance records.
-12 Certified educators and staff in a structured environment providing academic, social, emotional, physical and spiritual support
- Field trips weekly.
-Instruction in the CORE subjects of Reading, Math, and Science with an emphasis on technol
ogy
-Language support for Hispanic children with certified bilingual educators
-Transportation provided. Expenses absorbed by Bridges.
-Breakfast and lunch provided
-80 contact hours per child

-Private music lessons for Bridges band students
-Select team sports programs
Year round TAKS/STARR/Exit Recovery Class:
By monitoring children progressing through Bridges, an issue arose with the Exit Level Test that seniors must pass to graduate. In the spring semester of 2006, several seniors discovered that they had not passed the Exit Test-after preparing to graduate with their class.
-Bridges developed a TASK Exit Level Recovery Class that met four weeks before the retest in June. A certified teacher targeted deficit skills with intensive instruction and achieved a 60% passing rate. The class runs concurrently with the Bridges Summer Program. The TAKS Exit Level Recovery Class has been extended to the Fall and Spring. Overall passing rate is at 78% as of the 2007-2008 school session. The sessions are continuing. Algebra Foundation Class:
-By monitoring children progressing through Bridges, an issue arouse with high school Algebra. Through the monitoring process, Bridges discovered that the youth were failing Algebra in their first year and then held back from progressing further in high school.
-The Algebra Foundation Class was initiated to hone the pre-requisite skills that impacted whether or not a child was successful in Algebra class.
-The participants receive one-on-one instruction from a certified educator. The class runs concurrently with the Bridges Summer program. 100% passing rate in high school Algebra
