“Here in Texas, you guys do have a tremendous, serious candidate running for U.S. Senate. It’s not Ted Cruz,” fmr. Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming) said.

“You might not agree on every policy position, but we need people who are going to serve in good faith," she said. "And in this race, it is Colin Allred. And I’ll be working on his behalf.”

Liz Cheney endorsed Allred at The Texas Tribune Festival Friday.

“Marie Galindo, chief public defender for the new office, said she's been working for the past several weeks to familiarize herself with the service area while searching for a place to live and an office space to work out of.
"When you build something, you start from scratch," Galindo said.

The pieces are coming together for the High Plains Regional Public Defender's Office.
