The Madge ~ Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge ~ Dallas, Texas

The Madge ~ Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge ~ Dallas, Texas The Madge Upon completion, "The Madge" will connect Spur 366 (Woodall Rodgers Freeway) in downtown Dallas to Singleton Boulevard in west Dallas.

The Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, affectionately nicknamed "The Madge" is one of three Santiago Calatrava-designed bridges being built over the Trinity River in Dallas, Texas (USA) as part of the Trinity River Project. The six lane cable-stayed bridge is to cost $93 million, its total length will be 1,870 feet (570 m) with a main-span of 1,197 feet (365 m), and an apex-height of 400 feet (122 m).[2]

The main purpose of this fan page will be for locals and visitors alike to post pictures and comments about The Madge. The Madge is scheduled to be open March 2-4, 2012. The original planned opening of October, 2011 was pushed back due to several snow and ice days during the winter months of January and February, 2011. Record breaking heat throughout the summer of that same year did not seem to hinder construction much as illustrated in the pictures from April onward. The Coulter Group announced March 2-4, 2012 as the official opening of The Madge and provided the following schedule of events.

This is one thing I never imagined would happen on our beautiful bridge.

The City of Dallas police department herded the protesters on the Madge and then trapped them up there with police on both ends and then the police tear gassed them. This was a couple of hours ago and they are making the protesters sit there in their tear-gassed clothing.

Shame on the City of Dallas Police Department.
