Ringtails — a rare sighting in DFW.

Here's an unusual sighting for DFW! Ringtails are notoriously secretive and their nocturnal lifestyle means that they are rarely seen. Ringtails are distributed throughout most of the state, but they are relatively uncommon in North Texas.

This individual was spotted in a small park in a highly developed area of Fort Worth, which highlights the importance of urban green space. Kevin was one of those influential and transformative individuals that our city and the world could use more of.

“Kevin’s big idea was that under the concrete there was nature, and we could unlock it, free it, restore it, and learn to live with it while being sensitive to ecological balance and appreciation.”

The landscape architect’s big idea was that Dallas could change the way it imagines itself and its future by restoring nature's place within the urban environment.

The naming of the park being planned for the soon to be demolished 12th Street Connector is a fitting tribute to Dallas landscape architect Kevin Sloan.
