The Mounted Patrol operates with legal authority in and outside of Dallas County under the orders of Dallas County Sheriff Marian Brown, helping maintain law and order. The presence of a uniformed, armed officer on horseback is exceptionally effective in controlling large crowds and providing security at large-scale events.
