Allegany County Utilities Division

Allegany County Utilities Division The Utilities Division (ACUD) is responsible for maintenance and operation of water distribution, wastewater collection, and wastewater treatment systems.

The Utilities Division is responsible for maintenance and operation of the water distribution system, wastewater collection system and wastewater treatment systems in the County. The County has approximately 185 miles of sewer line and 197 miles of water line with a total of approximately 14,000 customers. The 30 Utilities Division employees operate five wastewater treatment plants, several waste

water pump stations, and seven water storage tanks. Allegany County purchases all potable water from other regional suppliers which is then distributed and sold to our individual customers. The Division is also responsible for bulk water and sewer meter readings and individual home water meter readings. At any given time the Division has several upgrade or expansion projects in study, design or construction. These range from water or sewer line extensions, plant upgrades, or inflow/infiltration improvements. Growth, new regulations and needed repairs require the Division to stay current on the latest technologies and construction techniques.

Attn Bowling Green ‼️

BOWLING GREEN UTILITY UPDATE - Northern Pipeline (on behalf of Columbia Gas) will continue to work in the Bowling Green area throughout the spring, summer, and coming fall to replace infrastructure that has reached its useful life. You may have noticed the hundreds of small flags throughout the area, marking the underground utility lines. This has been done using the best available information - unfortunately, some of the lines in that area pre-date the information we have. Despite the best efforts of all involved, this has led to occasional disruptions to utility services. We recognize this can be extremely frustrating but we are requesting your patience with this major project. Please know that everyone involved with this effort is doing all that we can to avoid impacts to underground utilities.
