Cumberland County has lifted the burn ban as of 3PM on July 13, 2024. We will update the signs at the transfer stations on Monday mornin, July 15, 2024 to reflect this change.

Due to the high temperatures, CFEMS Station 1 (1641 Anderson Highway) will be open to the public as a cooling station until 5:00pm. and tomorrow July 5, 2024 from 1200 - 5PM.

Update: Roadway is back open. Use caution as the power company will be working in the area to restore power.

Cumberland VFD is currently on scene of a car that hit a power pole & on fire in 1400 block of Anderson Highway. All traffic is being diverted down Trents Mill Rd & Stoney Point Rd. Expect road closure & delays for several hours while the power company works to repair damaged poles & lines.

In case you have not heard, it is going to be HOT this weekend. Please remember to limit being outside, drink plenty of water, and takes a lot of breaks fi you must work outside. If you experience any signs and/or symptoms of a heat related illness seek help immediately.

The County in conjunction with the Department of Social Services, will be providing cooling shelters for residents this Saturday and Sunday from Noon to 5 p.m. at the Luther P Jackson Community Center, 1874 Anderson Highway, Cumberland, VA 23040. The cooling shelters will be in the classroom adjacent to the old auditorium in the front building along Route 60.
