DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Fatal Stabbing in Yorktown

At approximately 12:59 a.m. on September 22, 2025, the DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stabbing at a residence located at 623 Kraege Street in Yorktown, Texas.

Deputies arrived to find an unresponsive adult male victim in the front yard of the residence. The victim, 37 – year old Aaron Lee Sellers was pronounced deceased at the scene.

During the preliminary investigation, witnesses identified a suspect who had fled the area on foot. Deputies located and detained 27-year-old Santana Cruz Ureste of Yorktown behind a local business on West Main Street.

Ureste was taken into custody without incident and transported to the DeWitt County Jail, where he was charged with Murder.

September 28, 2025

DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Highway 87 Shooting
Cuero, Texas – On Saturday, September 27, 2025, at approximately 11:41 p.m., the DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a shooting near South U.S. Highway 87 and Radio Road in Cuero.

Deputies located the female victim in front of U & I Donuts suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim received life saving measures by a Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper stationed in DeWitt County. The victim transported to a local hospital for further care. Her condition is currently stable.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 87 when an unidentified vehicle approached and fired several rounds into the victim’s vehicle. The suspect vehicle fled the scene prior to law enforcement arrival. No description of the suspect or vehicle is being released at this time as the investigation remains active.

The DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office is diligently working to identify the individuals responsible.

Between June 25 and June 27, 2024, a 2009 Camouflage Kawasaki Mule (single bench ATV), a 2014 Black/Orange lifted Polaris 900 EX (dual bench seat ATV), and an aluminum dual-axle trailer were stolen on Terryville Church Road in DeWitt County.

On 06/07/2024 Between the hours of 1:00am and 5:00am, a Kawasaki Mule was stolen as well as other equipment and tools from a worksite on Friar Rd in Dewitt County. This individual was a front passenger of this older model truck. The vehicle is possibly a 2004 Toyota Tundra crew cab dark gray in color. The License plate is unknown at this time. The truck is missing a tailgate and appears to have a silver toolbox bolted to the bed. The vehicle is pulling a 16-18ft double axle trailer with a spare loaded on the front. Unknown LP.

The front passenger enters a store in Victoria, Tx and appears to be a middle aged Hispanic Male wearing a black Tshirt, blue Jean shorts with black converse. The male has tattoos on his left forearm and is wearing a gold braclet or watch on his left wrist. The Male has black facial hair and with short black hair. The front driver remains unknown and unknown description.
