The Croton Lions recently inducted new member Valeria Hunter. We asked Valeria why she was interested in volunteering and why she chose the Croton Lions Club.

“I was looking for volunteer opportunities in the area to become more involved in my community and make an impact. The Croton Lions stood out to me because of their commitment to giving back to the community in a variety of ways, from park clean ups to charity donations to medical equipment lending. I look forward to helping make Croton a better place and to connect with my town as a Lion.”

We are happy to have Valeria as a new member!

The Croton Lions were busy again last weekend at CVS and Bagels on the Hudson selling 50/50 Raffle tickets. Last year the winner received $1400 and the club the other $1400. Those funds went back to the Croton community through the local disaster relief effort (fire victims), scholarships, LionsSEE vision program, Croton boosters, police and EMS, free medical equipment loans and almost 30 more charities.

This year, the Lions were able to increase the amount of their three scholarships to deserving graduating CHHS seniors from $3,000 to $5,000 thanks to the generosity of our village.

There is still time to purchase raffle tickets. They are on sale at the Croton Diner anytime and at Summerfest, June 7th all day until the drawing at 5pm.

“We Serve” and we thank you all for your donations to the services we provide.

Donations and generous volunteer work are the things that make the Croton Lions Club possible. We are a 501c3 charitable organization. Your donation is tax deductible.

The Croton Lions are busy again helping out. This time a contingent of nine Lions including the youngest Lion volunteer McKenzie Anderson, went to work on the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail removing invasive plants to provide room for native plants to thrive.

The event, I Love My Parks Day, was sponsored by NYS Parks and Trails on May 2, 2026. The statewide event included approximately 5,000 volunteers, including about 100 locally. They arrived ready to work, removing Japanese honeysuckle, multiflora roses, wineberries, barberry, burning bush and garlic mustard.

The younger brigade became the “mustard musketeers” and they removed many of these highly invasive plants. It was a productive and satisfying day for all involved.

A raffle was held during the lunch break with prizes and gift certificates provided by local businesses including Feed the Birds and Robbins Pharmacy.

Pictured below are the Lions receiving instructions and getting their tools, working on the path and raffle winners, Lions president, Bob Anderson and granddaughter, McKenzie with their prizes.

Come join us.

So long, Vic and Linda Conte!
Vic has said that Italians say “So long” and not “Goodbye” implying “until til we see each other again.” And so, with much love and thanks, the Croton Lions say “So long” to Vic and Linda Conte who are taking a huge leap and moving to Seattle.
On Tuesday, we were hosted by Pete Tsagarakis at the Croton Diner to honor them and thank them for their many years of service to the Croton community. Michael Balter of the Croton Chronicle was in attendance and had this to say Lion of Croton Vic Conte leaves our little village for a big city in the Great Northwest.
Thank you, Michael. We could not have said it better.

At age 90, the Croton Lions Club leader is off to Seattle with his wife Linda.

The Croton Lions Club stepped up once again to provide aid for someone in need. Shanna Elliot and her three children lost their home to the fire on Palmer Avenue two weeks ago.

Although there is a GoFundMe account started, the Lions wanted her to have funds available immediately. The Croton Lions started the Local Disaster Relief initiative two years ago, and this is the fourth instance in that period they have provided aid.

The Croton Lions Club is the local chapter of Lions Clubs International, the world's largest service organization with more than 1.4 million members and 50,000 clubs who bring hands and hearts to the communities they serve in almost every country on earth.

On April 11, the Lions Club sponsored the Croton Caring Committee’s Welcome Spring Luncheon. The highlight of the afternoon was the Easter bonnet parade, judged by Pete, Bob and Don. It was hilarious. Everyone had so much fun as you can see by all the smiles. Many thanks to Lion Steven Giacobello for taking these wonderful pictures.

On April 11, the Lions Club sponsored the Croton Caring Committee’s Welcome Spring Luncheon, much appreciated by all. The delicious food from the Croton Diner and scrumptious cake from Baked by Susan were served by our wonderful CHHS students, thank you so much! The highlight of the afternoon was
