Warmest thanks to Ben Hur Apartments for providing an exemplary new home for George & Sarah Durham's 1900 AB Chase Grand Piano! It sure looks happy in its new Main Street, Crawfordsville location - from 215 W. Main to 227 E. Main!

Check the comment thread for a thumbnail of the Durham piano appearing in a 1904 national magazine ad. That was seven years before the Ben-Hur Life building was constructed.

Last night, board members and staff of The Durham Foundation attended the Inaugural Mayors Ball at IRA Whiskey, Crawfordsville, with a 2026 fundraiser for the Montgomery County Boys & Girls Club.

The “Roaring 20’s” prohibition theme was a hit with all who gathered! Numbers are still coming in on the encouraging amount that was raised to support MCBGC programming and projects. Director Gina Haile and Wabash Football Coach Jake Gilbert delivered straightforward reminders on the critical importance of impacting lives before adulthood - one child at a time - in order to empower youth toward choices that foster a healthy adulthood.

The Durham Foundation (formerly Durham Home, Inc) is a Montgomery County Indiana philanthropic nonprofit that manages Durham Home of Crawfordsville, sponsors scholarships for women, and supports community initiatives that align with its mission to empower women at every step of life.

In early 2026, The Durham Foundation collaborated with the County Community Foundation to create "The Durham Foundation Community Child Care Assistance Pass Through Fund". How GRATEFUL we are to TDF Associate Board Member, Caryn Heisel & Hoosier Heartland State Bank for their generous gift that advances the fund's growth to help fill gaps in need for quality early learning child care for working parents.

Donations to TDF's Community Child Care Assistance Pass Through Fund can be made online here -

Each year Hoosier Heartland State Bank employees are nominated by their coworkers for three awards: a Mission Award, a Vision Award, and a Values Award. Finalists in each category then select a Heartstring Charity to receive a gift in honor of that employee.

We are honored that Caryn Heisel selected us as her organization! As first runner-up for the Vision Award, MCCF received $5,000 in her honor. Caryn directed her gift to the newly established Durham Foundation Community Child Care Assistance Pass-Through Fund, which supports local child care providers.

In all, HHSB distributed a record $75,000 to local nonprofit organizations at their celebration. Thank you to HHSB for investing in our community and thanks to Caryn for modeling the bank’s mission of giving back.

Fun fact: HHSB has also awarded over $140,000 in grants and scholarships from their funds here at MCCF!
