This Tuesday we will be swinging into March with 3 back to back meetings, Work Session, CDRA (Community Development and Renewal Agncy, and the Business Meeting.
All will be on video to view on on the CH YouTube Channel or in-[person at City Hall.
Principal Sarah Allen will be presenting an Update Report on Ridgecrest/Bella Vista Elementary, followed by Prevent Child Abuse Utah and the CHPRD Master Plan
CHPRD-
PRD usually stands for Planned Residential Development. It refers to a specialized zoning designation that allows for more flexible, integrated, and higher-density development compared to traditional zoning, often blending residential with recreational or commercial uses.
These are always of interest in our city. We are looking for ways to improve our community to build better and smarter for the future. These need to be designed and implemented properly in order to be useful and not just higher density.
I am also interested in the Communication Strategy/Newsletter. Not sure if that is just the newsletter or more specific strategy or even more generalized communication aspects. We need better, more timely communication, more direct access and transparency.

Business Meeting Action Items include approving Perkins for engineering work regarding the connection of a crossing at 3000 E. & Cottonwood Parkway signal, and an agreement with State of Utah to use the “America250” name, logo and brand identity. America250 is designed to celebrate the Countries 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4th 2026 The program goals are to be the most inclusive, comprehensive, and participatory commemoration in American history. Engaging all citizens, promoting volunteerism, showcasing American stories, Highlighting the "American Spirit," fostering national unity, and imagining the next 250 years. Wow! That is really ambitious, nut…Dang! I’m all ready for the 4th of July now!!!!

Hope to see you at City Hall or on-line watching.

CH Council Mtgs for Feb 17th, 2026 start off with the Work Session 4-6 and continues with the Business Meeting at 7pm.
Both are available online or in person. (Chick link at the end)

I'm excited, the Work Session will report/discuss the *Fi****ms Safety Training Facility* proposed to be built on CH property at the (relatively new) Public Works facility for Police Officers to practice.

It is an interesting topic that I hope receives some clarification.
Police training and skills are important.
So is our budget, proper city planning, and overall safety of citizens and youth.

Concerns regarding
-the funding our prior CH administration requested coming in at roughly 1/2 of what was asked, how much the site will cost to maintain and staff, the criteria for other police entities that will have access and how they will contribute to paying for their usage for the site, the property and our existing facilities.

A large concern for this non-public range on our newly developed Public Works area is the overall cost to the city and ensuring we are conducting this (multi-city police) shared training facility on our property as a POSITIVE CASH-FLOW INVESTMENT for CH.
I've got my fingers crossed!!!

The 7pm Business Mtg opens with our Fab 5 City Officials providing their Council Committee Reports on the committees they respectively attend before going into Citizen Comments. Every person has up to 3 minutes to talk about whatever is on their mind.
However
There will be a Public Hearing for the Budget Amendments.
So you will get your chance to speak SPECIFICALLY about the Budget Amendments, directly AFTER the Citizen Comment period. Its confusing, but they will make an announcement to clarify!

Looking forward to hearing from you all. Love hearing your thoughts and knowing what is important to you. It is the beginning of a New Year and hope to hear both new and experienced voices out there.

Get ready to finalize hiring a NEW City Manager for CH. Hard to focus on business with all attention going towards Butlerville Days planning, but we will get an update on that as well.
We still are discussing EV chargers at City Hall, and going to get our standard monthly financial & fire reports and well as our City Council Committee updates.
The City is extending two current Legislative Lobbyist contracts until June of 2026, Approving Storm Drain Improvements for Supernal Way and Adopting Part 8 of a Public Health Advisory/Code of Ordinance that will hopefully get more clarification.

CH City Council Mtgs. We are looking at the Parks and Rec Service Area Boundary. Hopefully they can explain why areas outside of CH are included and a good part of CH is not included in the Parks and Rec Service Area and DO NOT have the same basic resident access to the Rec Center as most of CH, and what we can do about it. Interested to hear about the SLCo. Whitmore Library Report.
The CDRA, Community Development and Renewal Agency will be moving forward with the Canyon Centre Park Master Planning Services with Venn Collaborative.
In the Business Meeting they will be voting to/against amending a code to address "Demolition" in building and construction, Approving Musical Act Contracts for Butlerville Days, and Amending Retirement Contributions and Benefits to align better with the changes adopted by the Utah Retirement Systems as suggested

We are currently using the City's YouTube channel to watch the meetings.

Its a snowy May and time for City Council Mtgs.
This week we've got Short-Term Rental Policy, Butlerville Days planning including Fireworks Restrictions, 1700 East Project, Ft. Union Bike Path and more construction and maintenance projects around the city.

One of the most fun and fascinating items s the Rocky Mountain Power /Public Art Project. If approved, this means some of OUR LOCAL ARTISTS will paint/decorate some of RMP's electrical equipment throughout our city! A fun community beautification project.
I want to know more about how we can all get involved in this project already!!!

For those of you concerned with Fireworks, please tune in to listen to United Fire Authorities report, the Firework Restriction discussion, and be ready to SHARE YOUR INPUT about fire hazards. The community consistently helps us pinpoint areas of interest in fire safety and firework threat.

Stop by City Hall at 4pm and 7pm, or simply watch live on our CH YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com//streams
