Questions lately have been focused on IMTA expanding our trail. Our group really would like to do this but we are having trouble getting members in each county to volunteer on the Mormon Pioneer National Historic Trail from Montrose to Council Bluffs. Meetings are on livestream or live at this time so expanding can be possible and could be a good idea. There is at least 50 -100 miles between the handcart trail and the original trail and there is a trail in northern Iowa that is at least 400 miles from the original trail in distance. That is why we need volunteers from those counties since we don't know your trails. We have walked your trails. We don't know where particular sites for signage should be. If you know people who are interested and live on the other trails in Iowa. Answer this post or send us a private message on our Messenger link. We may never be able to get government authorization for these portions of the trail but maybe there are other avenues that can be investigated for signage. This is not necessarily the thoughts of all IMTA members but I, Jane Briley, secretary of IMTA, thought I would throw this idea out for discussion,
