Day 1 of 33 comes to an end ...

Rosie took my spot in the doghouse 6 tent ... so I’ve been relegated to a hammock (which is actually really wonderful too). We’re at a campground in Corbin KY. After dinner Andrew showed Ryder and Mark how to get a campfire going even when it rained just a few hours earlier and seemingly everything is wet. Couldn’t have asked for a better start to an ultra mega adventure. I’ve never been away from VA for more than a couple of weeks in the past 25+ years!

And so it begins...

On August 14, 2020 the Thomas/Issem clan will head out from Roanoke, VA on a cross country road trip destined for Washington and Oregon and down the CA coastline to the Grand Canyon and nearby Nat’l Parks, then back through the southern states. We plan to camp most of the way, visiting National Forests and State Parks. We will be traveling in our $200 Minivan Ultimate that Rob has tricked out for maximum comfort and durability (let’s hope!). Our first stop will be Daniel Boone National Park, KY.
