I wrote this in 2014 as a young English Language arts teacher. I’m not sure as to why,but I feel it holds true.

Believe

I believe that Word should boot up faster so I can work on my writing

I believe that if you really want to encourage your students to read you must not be a book snob

Ii believe that the Harbrace is the spawn of the devil and has done more to crush young writers than your average book burning.

I believe that comic books are not a bad thing

I believe that it is ok to think The Scarlet Letter is not a good book.

I believe Moby Dick is one of the most boring things I have ever tried to read, and I have read encyclopedias before.

I believe kids nowadays don’t know how lucky they are to have so many books written just for them.

I believe that young boys are not encouraged to read as much as young girls.

I believe that we should stop teaching from so many writers that never used or saw electric lights.

I believe that it’s ok to read what you’re students are reading

I believe that there will be times when your students know more than you do…accept it and move on.

I believe that if everyone thinks a book is good and you don’t; it doesn’t mean you are an individual it just means you’re wrong

I believe that books are to be enjoyed and not dissected. Dissecting is for frogs and fetal pigs not BOOKS!

I believe spell check is a blessing and a curse.

I believe that if you aren’t currently reading a book you need to be and not just for a class.

I believe the worst place to be as a reader, teacher, writer or person is a rut.

I believe I stole this idea from a monologue by Steve Martin that is much funnier than what I wrote here today.
