This week, the Montgomery County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management is proud to host ICS-300, ICS-400, and G-191 training for emergency management and public safety professionals from across the region.

We’re especially grateful for the assistance of instructors from the Montgomery County ESD No. 10/Magnolia Fire Department and Porter Fire Department, whose experience and expertise are helping make this week’s training possible.

Strong emergency response starts long before the call comes in. Building a shared understanding of the Incident Command System, strengthening leadership skills, and developing relationships across agencies helps ensure that when our communities need us, we’re ready to work together.

After more than three weeks supporting operations at the Ross Fire in Palo Pinto and Jack counties, our office has demobilized from that incident and redeployed our personnel and assets to the Hydra Fire in Bosque County.

Overnight, additional personnel and resources from our office were deployed to this new fire. Upon arriving early this morning, members of the Texas Incident Support Task Force, the Texas Division of Emergency Management, and the Texas A&M Forest Service joined local officials and our team inside our Mobile Operations Center to begin coordinating under one roof in support of unified operations.

We are proud of the strong relationships we have built with our state partners and grateful for the trust they place in our office—not only in the expertise of our personnel, but also in the capabilities of our equipment.

Montgomery County OEM remains ready to answer the call and support our fellow Texans wherever we are needed.

Overnight, at the request of the State of Texas, our office deployed additional personnel and reassigned personnel and assets already supporting statewide wildfire operations to the new wildfire in Bosque County.

Our team is joining firefighters from several Montgomery County fire departments who have also answered the call to assist.

One of the best parts of emergency management is having the opportunity to serve—not just our own community, but our neighbors and partners across Texas.

Right now, two members of the Montgomery County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management are continuing to support wildfire operations across the state.

🔥 One of our team members is assisting the Texas A&M Forest Service with statewide logistics and resource support.

🔥 Another is supporting the Ross Fire in Palo Pinto County, where our Mobile Operations Center is helping provide the incident with additional space for IMT support with the Texas Division of Emergency Management.

Yesterday afternoon, we were also honored to be able to help our neighbors to the north with Walker County OEM and Walker County EMS as they prepared for the Sam Houston State University football game. Our Special Operations Vehicle provided a command center for EMS operations and was available to serve as a cooling center if needed.

Different missions. Different communities. Different circumstances.

But the mission is always the same: help people and support our partners.

We are grateful every time we have the opportunity to put our people and resources to work in service to others. Whether it’s a wildfire, a major sporting event, a community emergency, or something completely unexpected, we’re happy to answer the call when our partners need a helping hand.

🇺🇸 Remembering September 11, 2001

This morning, members of the Montgomery County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management currently deployed to the Ross Fire, along with other responders still assigned to the incident, paused during their daily briefing to participate in a 9/11 remembrance ceremony.

Even while away from home and serving on an active incident, responders took a moment to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to remember the courage and sacrifice demonstrated by first responders, military members, and ordinary citizens in the days that followed.

For those of us who serve in emergency management and public safety, September 11 carries a special significance. It is a reminder of why we prepare, why we train, why we stand ready, and why we answer the call when our communities need us most.

We remember the lives lost.
We honor the heroes who responded.
We recognize the sacrifices made.
And we will never forget.

Twenty-five years ago today, America was forever changed. Our office joins the nation in remembering the 2,977 lives taken on September 11, 2001, and honoring the first responders, public servants, and ordinary citizens who demonstrated extraordinary courage.

For those of us in emergency management, September 11 remains a powerful reminder of why we prepare, train, build partnerships, and stand ready to serve.

Our office continues to support statewide wildfire operations, with personnel still deployed to the Ross Fire in Palo Pinto and Jack counties. They are joined by personnel from several Montgomery County fire departments who are also supporting ongoing fire operations.

Today, our Logistics Division delivered critical supplies directly to the front lines of the Half Section Fire near Eldorado.

With weather conditions keeping wildfire danger critical across much of Texas, our office remains committed to supporting the state through personnel serving on the Texas Incident Management Teams, the Incident Support Task Force, and the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System.

Please continue to pray for our deployed personnel, every responder working to suppress these fires, and all the communities affected across Texas.

WILDFIRE DEPLOYMENT UPDATE

Our office continues to have personnel and resources deployed at the request of the State of Texas in support of ongoing wildfire response operations.

Multiple members of our office, joined by personnel from several Montgomery County fire departments, are currently assigned to the Ross Fire in Palo Pinto and Jack counties. Our team has been supporting fire operations while serving in multiple Command and General Staff positions.

Earlier this week, the State requested additional support for this complex incident, and we answered the call by deploying our Mobile Operations Center for use by the incident management team on scene. Additionally, one member of our office remains deployed in a statewide logistics role, delivering mission-critical supplies to the Texas A&M Forest Service throughout the state.

We are proud to have our personnel serving with multiple statewide response teams, including Texas Incident Management Teams, the Texas Incident Support Task Force and the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System. These teams respond to incidents across Texas throughout the year, and our staff play an integral role in their missions.

These deployments allow us to provide vital assistance to communities and responders during critical incidents while gaining valuable, hands-on experience that strengthens our preparedness and response capabilities here at home.

Remnants of Tropical Storm Edouard are still in the region. Today and tomorrow with daytime heating we can see additional thunderstorms develop. These storms could produce heavy downpours at times.

Montgomery County remains under a flood watch through 7pm today.

If any warnings are issued we will provide updates as warranted.
