Scouting helps build the leaders and the responsible community members who make our commonwealth stronger. ⚜

Yesterday, Scouting America held their annual Report to the Commonwealth, and I was fortunate enough to welcome Scouts from the Laurel Highlands-Pittsburgh Council on the Senate floor. 🎖️ Pennsylvania is stronger because of organizations like Scouting that inspire young people to lead with integrity and serve for the greater good.

Government works best when it operates openly and transparently.

I'm pleased that my legislation (SB 1150) to strengthen Pennsylvania's Sunshine Act and ensure the public receives meaningful notice before government action is taken, was unanimously approved by the Senate State Government Committee last week. This commonsense measure helps protect transparency, accountability, and the public's right to know.

Congratulations to three outstanding wrestlers on incredible championship seasons! 🏆

🤼‍♀️ Violette Lasure earned her third consecutive state championship with an undefeated season.
🤼‍♀️ Juliet Alt captured her second PIAA State Girls’ Wrestling title.
🤼‍♂️ Kai Vielma claimed the PIAA Class 3A state title while setting a Connellsville record for wins in a season.

It was great to honor these three exceptional student-athletes and their families in Harrisburg this week. Their hard work and dedication make their schools, communities and our commonwealth proud. 🏅 Looking forward to seeing what each of you achieve in the years to come!

It was great to have Gracyn Bittner, a junior at Conemaugh Township Area High School, join us in Philadelphia as the commemorated America’s 250th birthday last week.

As an Eagle Scout and dedicated student leader, Gracyn plans to pursue service to our country through enrollment at the U.S. Naval Academy after graduation. It was inspiring to see him, and other young leaders, so engaged in honoring our nation’s history. The future looks bright!
