We’re proud to share that Assistant Commissioner Steven Lavoie has been selected as the recipient of the 2026 Caroline and Martin Gross Fellowship.

Created in memory of New Hampshire House Majority Leader Caroline Gross and former Concord Mayor Martin Gross, the fellowship honors exceptional dedication to public service, providing one New Hampshire public sector leader the opportunity to attend a three-week executive education program at the Harvard Kennedy School.

“My goal is to take what I learn not only from the classes themselves, but the people that are in them, and determine how this can apply at the Department of Safety and in state government as a whole and strengthen our relationships with local communities,” Lavoie said.

Please join us in congratulating Assistant Commissioner Lavoie!

Today, we pause to observe National Peace Officers Memorial Day. It’s a time to honor the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of all law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty, including those here in the Granite State.

This day serves as a meaningful reminder of the risks inherent in public safety work and the deep sense of duty demonstrated by those who serve. The courage and commitment demonstrated by those who wear the badge in our state are a testament to the highest standards of service.

Please take a moment today to reflect on the bravery of those we have lost.
