I hear from constituents who are struggling to make ends meet. They deserve to know their tax dollars are being spent carefully.

Columbus State asked to spend $285,940 in taxpayer dollars on artwork from an Indianapolis firm. That’s a significant expense, and with all the talent we have in Ohio, I also wanted to know why that work was going out of state.

After my colleagues and I raised concerns, the college withdrew its request.
I’m not on the Controlling Board just to rubber stamp whatever is put in front of me. When public institutions ask to spend your money, they ought to be prepared to explain where it’s going and why.
