At just 18 years old, Emily Christopherson is already making a lasting impact at OhioHealth Shelby Hospital.
From preparing patient rooms to offering a reassuring smile, Emily shows up every shift ready to help and, more importantly, to listen. Through OhioHealth’s Work-Based Learning Program, she’s gaining hands-on experience while building meaningful connections with patients and her care team.
“I think one of the greatest things I’ve learned here is how to work one on one with somebody to make sure they’re feeling heard and what they need is met,” said Christopherson.
And people are noticing.
After going above and beyond for a patient and their family, Emily was nominated for and earned the Bee Award, which recognizes associates who go beyond their role to deliver exceptional care and compassion. She’s the first high school student at Shelby Hospital and just the second across OhioHealth to receive the honor.
It’s an incredible milestone, but for Emily, it’s just the beginning. With her sights set on becoming a nurse, she’s already proving she has the heart and dedication to get there.
