Today, the Ohio House passed House Bill 519, legislation that will temporarily suspend Ohio’s state gas tax for 90 days.

With fuel costs continuing to put pressure on Ohio families, farmers, truckers and small businesses, this measure provides direct relief at the pump while maintaining funding for road construction and maintenance.

I’m proud to support efforts that put money back in the pockets of Ohioans and provide relief from rising everyday costs.

Congratulations to Nancy Stranahan on her induction into the Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame Class of 2026!

For nearly three decades, Nancy has dedicated herself to protecting Ohio’s natural heritage. As the founder of the Arc of Appalachia Preserve System, she has helped protect more than 14,000 acres of forests, prairies, caves, wetlands and archaeological sites across Ohio, while creating opportunities for education, recreation and community engagement.

Nancy’s lifelong commitment to conservation, education and service is a wonderful example of the positive impact Ohioans continue to make in our communities. It is an honor to celebrate her accomplishments and recognize her lasting contributions to our state.

Lisa and I enjoyed attending First Lady Fran DeWine’s luncheon this afternoon, with proceeds benefiting Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

Today’s special guest was country music icon Trisha Yearwood. She and Fran had a wonderful fireside chat about everything from Dolly and the importance of books to cooking and country music.

With Dolly’s passing last month, it was especially meaningful to celebrate the incredible legacy she leaves behind. Her vision for putting books into the hands of children will continue through the Imagination Library, impacting generations to come.

As a legislator, I have supported funding for this important program. Ohio remains the largest state program in the country, with more than 430,000 children receiving a free book every month.

In my House district, 6,709 children currently receive books—that’s 66% of children ages 0–5. Since 2019, 442,600 books have been mailed to children in Fayette, Highland, Ross and Pike Counties.

What a wonderful way to invest in Ohio’s children and their future. And a special thank you to First Lady Fran DeWine for her incredible leadership in growing the Imagination Library across Ohio and helping make sure more children have the opportunity to grow up with a love of reading.

It was great to join community partners for the ribbon cutting of the new Warrior Wellness Center!

This is a meaningful investment in the health and well-being of our community, bringing expanded health, wellness, and support services closer to home. I’m proud to celebrate this milestone and the work that went into making this center a reality.

I enjoyed joining Message From the House with Rep. Angie King at the Ohio State Fair to talk about the issues that matter to Ohio’s farmers and rural communities.

The State Fair is a great opportunity to connect with Ohioans from across the state and highlight the important work being done in our agricultural community. I appreciate the opportunity to share my perspective and discuss the work we are doing in the Ohio House to support agriculture and rural Ohio.

It was a great experience serving as a judge for this year’s Battle for the Bacon at the Ohio State Fair alongside Rep. Meredith Craig and Rep. Roy Klopfenstein.

The event gives legislators the opportunity to get in the ring and learn firsthand from Ohio’s 4-H and FFA exhibitors about the hard work, dedication, and knowledge that goes into raising and showing livestock.

Thank you to all of the young exhibitors who participated and to everyone who helped make this year’s Battle for the Bacon a success.

It was a privilege to participate in the Joint Agriculture Committee hearing at the Ohio State Fair and hear directly from leaders across Ohio’s agriculture community.

We heard testimony from representatives such as Samantha Bader (Ohio State Junior Fair Board), Don Jones (USDA Farm Service Agency), Adam Sharp (Ohio Farm Bureau), Brian Baldridge (Ohio Department of Agriculture), Adam Heffron (Ohio Exposition Center and State Fair), Edy Solet (2026 Ohio Fairs Queen), Evelyn Hill (Ohio 4-H Teen Leadership Council), Mary Mertz (Ohio Department of Natural Resources), Paige Gehret (Ohio FFA Association), and also my friend and neighbor Jed Bowers, President of the National Corn Growers Association!

The Ohio State Fair is a great opportunity to celebrate the people who make Ohio agriculture so strong, while also listening to those working every day to support our farmers, families, and next generation of agricultural leaders.
