Some Great News for Newark and Newark Station!

Happy Independence Day.

I always love this day, Declared in 1776 with the ratification by the second continental congress on July 4th declaring the 13 colonies free and absolved from the British crown.

What is often overlooked is the momentous step of signing in effect a British death warrant by 56 men who wanted freedom prior to establishment of a country and published the concept of “govenments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed,” something I hold very dear.

The Treaty of Paris was signed on September 3rd 1783 for America to achieve their truce with independence.

America’s independence was neither quick, easy, or certain. Through great personal sacrifice, we achieved our freedom for generations to enjoy.

Kroger announced it will invest $70 million to make a 35,000 square foot expansion at Tamarack Farms Dairy, after considering other locations.

I wanted to make sure I took the time to reflect on Memorial Day before this post, I try to always attend the Cedar Hill Cemetery ceremony in Newark on Memorial Day to pay my respects to the fallen and listen to their stories from Doug Stout.

We also attended the Utica Ice Cream parade and a big thank you to Councilman Colton Rine, The Peck Family, The Osborn Family, and all the other volunteers that made that parade truly special for our family.

Always remember those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country, so we can live in a free and prosperous nation; may their loss never be in vain.

Intel is expected to bring, initially 3,000 new workers to Licking County and that means new families with kids will need to go to school. Rep. Kevin Miller, Senator Jay Hottinger, and I are pleased to announce $3.5 Million in broadband support for Licking County residents. This money will support private investment and ensure increased access to high speed internet and allow residents access for often the first time.
