A big congratulations to Merris Welge on his induction into the Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame Class of 2026. I have had the privilege of knowing Merris and seeing firsthand the care he has for others. His decades of service, kindness, and commitment to our community have made a real difference in so many lives. I could not be happier to see him receive this well deserved honor

Yesterday, I was honored to join Jay Hottinger for a panel discussion on the important conversations rural communities are having about proposed data center projects. These decisions involve real opportunities as well as important questions for our towns, families, and local resources. Our communities deserve clear information, thoughtful discussion, and a meaningful role in shaping their future.

A few highlights from my recent visit to Taking Root Farms. Securing funding for this project was a top priority for me and it was great to connect with those whose hard work and commitment help strengthen our community.

It was a pleasure to join such an inspiring group of female leaders here in Richland County!

I’m proud to have the 179th Cyberspace Wing right here in our community. I had the opportunity to tour the base with members of the House Veterans and Military Development Committee and see firsthand the incredible work our Airmen are doing for Ohio and our nation. It’s always a privilege to see the dedication of the men and women who serve our community and country, and I’m grateful to have them as part of our community.

I was honored to join Glenn S. Wingenbach Jr.’s family, veterans, and members of our community for the dedication of the Glenn S. Wingenbach Jr. Memorial Highway. It means so much to see a local hero remembered so close to the home where he grew up. Thank you to Dave Hackedorn for helping make this tribute possible. It is always inspiring to see our community come together to honor those who gave so much for our country.

It was an honor to attend the ribbon-cutting for the newly renovated Charles Mill Marina. This investment will make a meaningful difference for boaters, families, and visitors who enjoy this special place, and I’m grateful to everyone whose partnership and hard work brought this project to life.

Back to school season is just around the corner, and Ohio’s Sales Tax Holiday is this weekend, August 7–9! I hope it helps families save a little as they prepare for the new school year.

Wishing all of our students, parents, and educators a happy, healthy, and successful start to the school year!

I’m proud to support Taking Root Farms and to have helped secure a $400,000 investment in the state’s capital budget. This project will do so much good for our community by creating a welcoming place where adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities can learn, work, and connect while also giving our community a new space to enjoy fresh farm products, handmade goods, and the kind of care and connection that make our community stronger.

Thank you to Taking Root Farms for all you do for our community and for allowing my office to partner with you!
