When seconds mattered most, these officers didn't hesitate.

We are grateful to Sgt. John Frenz and Officer Logan Kretzmann for their courage, compassion and commitment to serving, and to the Columbus Division of Fire for bringing everyone to safety.

Truly outstanding work by all involved.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Domestic Violence can happen to anyone. It does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, age, sexual orientation, faith, or class. This year, the Division has already responded to 14,764 for Domestic Violence. That is just too many. It takes all of us to help end Domestic Violence.

Need medical help? Call 911. We’ll help get you to the right care.

Columbus’ new Nurse Health Care Navigation Line gives some 911 callers with non-emergency medical needs the option to speak directly with a nurse.

That nurse can help connect you with the care that fits your needs, whether that’s an ambulance, urgent care, a same-day appointment or telehealth.

If it’s an emergency, you’ll still get emergency help.

It’s a new way we’re working to get Columbus residents the right care, at the right time, while keeping emergency resources available for those who need them most.

Columbus Division of Fire Medical Director Dr. Robert Lowe shows you how it works:

Twenty-five years later, we remember.

We remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001. We honor the courage and sacrifice of the first responders who ran toward danger, and the 911 professionals who answered calls for help amid unimaginable tragedy.

Today, the Columbus Department of Public Safety stands with our police, fire and 911 personnel in honoring all who served, all who sacrificed and all whose lives were forever changed.

We will never forget.

Today, I announced a pause in the Columbus Division of Police’s use of Flock License Plate Reader Technology while we investigate evidence of misuse of the system by an individual. Technology should serve the people of Columbus, never personal interests or improper purposes. I am directing Chief Elaine Bryant to work with an independent third party to fully audit how this technology has been used, including any officer searches that may point to further misuse.

I stand behind the officers who do this work the right way every day. License plate readers have helped solve violent crimes, recover stolen vehicles, find missing people, and save lives. We will get the facts, strengthen safeguards where needed, and make a decision that best protects the safety, rights, and trust of our residents. Columbus Department of Public Safety
