He has more than 20 years of combined Military, Law Enforcement, and Counterterrorism experience and has instructed civilian, police, and military personnel in personal-defense systems. He is a certified instructor in Use of Force, Military Combatives, Firearms, Edged Weapons, Restraint and Control, Chemical Sprays, Batons, Physical Fitness, and Boxing. Marine Corps at various duty stations, where he provided security at sensitive sites and instructed military personnel in the operation and deployment of various weapons and tactics. Shortly after September 11, 2001, He began working for a government agency responsible for training individuals who operate globally and independently without backup, specifically in extreme close quarters combat and counterterrorism.

AMERICAN CHURCHES HELPING LOCAL CHILDREN: A VITAL NEED

As Will Peddie () points out, America has tremendous resources and the ability to help children around the world. But there are also children in our own communities who need love, support, mentorship, protection, and someone willing to step up.

The mission of the Church isn’t limited by geography.

We can care about children overseas and care deeply about the children growing up in our own neighborhoods.

Sometimes the greatest opportunity to demonstrate the love of Christ isn’t thousands of miles away.

It may be right down the street.

What would happen if American churches intentionally looked around their communities and asked:

“Who needs us to show up?”

Refinement, Identity, and the Warrior’s Path

At The Fourth Watch, in this podcast clip, they explore what happens when a man begins to understand that refinement is part of God’s process.

God takes what is ordinary and refines it into something valuable. In the same way, God takes men through seasons that shape, strengthen, and prepare them for greater purpose.

But refinement is not always comfortable.

Sometimes it requires solitude.

There is a difference between isolation and solitude. Isolation can come from being lost, disconnected, and without task or purpose. Solitude, however, can become a place where a man encounters God, receives direction, and allows his identity to be rebuilt.

For many warriors, this transition can be difficult.

God can take everything you experienced, every trial, every hardship, and every lesson, and refine it for a greater purpose.

The goal is not to forget what you have been through.

The goal is to allow God to redeem it.

☠️There is far too much nonsense being taught in the self-defense industry☠️

♦️Especially when it comes to hand-to-hand combat, and especially knives / edged weapons.

❌Techniques become unnecessarily esoteric. ❌Complicated❌Choreographed

♦️They may look impressive in a demonstration.

⁉️But ask yourself⁉️

❓Does this actually survive contact with VIOLENCE❓

💢When your heart rate explodes…

💢When adrenaline dumps into your bloodstream…

💢When fine motor skills deteriorate…

💢When FIGHT, FLIGHT, or FREEZE takes over…

💢When there are no resets and the consequence of failure may be death…❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️

⭕️INTENTIONAL SIMPLICITY MATTERS.

❓If you have established a SOLID PURCHASE on your blade, why are you being taught techniques that unnecessarily compromise that purchase❓

⭕️Why introduce movements that increase the probability of:

⭕️Dropping the blade.

⭕️Losing your grip.

⭕️Having it knocked from your hand.

⭕️Having it stripped or taken from you.

⭕️Or creating unnecessary transitions when you already possess the tool needed to solve the problem❓

💢Every unnecessary movement introduces another opportunity for failure.

🚫We are not training to perform.
✅We are training to prevail.

❌The goal is not to collect complicated techniques.

✅The goal is to build simple, repeatable, pressure-tested skills that can be accessed when your nervous system is under extreme stress.

♦️The self-defense industry needs to do a better job of EQUIPPING PEOPLE instead of ENTERTAINING THEM.

♦️Because violence does not care how impressive your technique looked in the training room.

❌Reduce complexity.
❌Reduce unnecessary transitions.
✅Protect your purchase.
✅Pressure-test everything.

♦️Solve the equation of violence with skills that remain available when everything goes wrong.

I have learned something about suffering.

NONE OF IT IS WASTED.

🚫Not the pain.
🚫Not the loss.
🚫Not the betrayal.
🚫Not the disappointment.
🚫Not the season where you had NO IDEA what God was doing.

✅There is VALUE in the suffering.

♦️But you have to be willing to investigate it.

❓What did it expose in you❓

❓What did it teach you❓

❓What needed to DIE ❓

❓What needed to change❓

❓Who did you need to become❓

❌I refuse to go through hell and come out the other side having learned NOTHING❌

❗️❗️That is wasted pain❗️❗️

💥Take the lesson💥
💥Make the adjustment💥
✝️Get closer to God✝️
🚨Become harder to kill spiritually, mentally, and emotionally🚨

🙏🏽Then take what tried to destroy you and USE IT🙏🏽

♦️PUT THE PAIN TO PURPOSE♦️

Because sometimes the greatest value of what you went through is WHO you became because you went through it.

🚫No suffering was wasted🚫
