Care and Share is incredibly proud to provide food for the Patriot Day Give Back at Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center, which took place today, as well as the Heroes Helping Heroes food distribution, which takes place tomorrow at CSU Pueblo. We are incredibly grateful for Denis McDonough, The Chief Executive Officer from Feeding America who is attending both ceremonies. Mr. McDonough as well as our CEO took some time at Patriot Day to talk to the media about food insecurity in our community and how it impacts service members and veterans.

MYTH : You can no longer buy sugary drinks with SNAP in Colorado.

FACT : A federal court blocked Colorado’s plan to restrict sugary drinks. For now, SNAP benefits can still be used to purchase non-alcoholic beverages like water, tea, milk, soda, energy drinks, and sports drinks, just as they could before.

We had our first collaboration with Uproot, and what an amazing day of gleaning at Dionisio Farms in Pueblo!

A huge THANK YOU to the 19 Uproot volunteers who came out and put in the work. Together, you helped bring an incredible 1,699 pounds of fresh corn back to the food bank!

Gleaning helps make sure good food doesn’t go to waste while getting fresh, nutritious produce into the hands of our neighbors who need it most.

We’re so grateful for partnerships like this that bring Colorado farmers, volunteers, and hunger relief together.
