A Few Important Reminders

Early voting remains available at the courthouse through Monday, August 17, at 5:00 p.m.

If you received a traditional absentee ballot, whether by mail or by picking one up from the office, please be sure to return it to the Elections Office before 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18; otherwise it cannot be counted.

At this point, just under 2,000 voters have cast their ballots early in the office, and approximately 1,500 absentee ballots have been issued.

Polls will be open Tuesday, August 18, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. If you are unsure where to vote, please call the Elections Office at 527-8620.

Now, this will likely be my final post until after the results are made public.

From the beginning of this campaign, I said I wanted to run on my own merits, integrity, and experience. I believe I have done exactly that. I have stayed out of the negative social media fray and answered questions with facts. I am proud of the way I have conducted this campaign.

As I reflect on these last six months, I can hear my late father telling me he is proud of the way I have carried myself. I also think of Karl Allen, who taught me long ago to keep doing the right thing, even when it isn't necessarily the easiest thing.

I know I have done what I said I would do: treat people with respect and dignity. That was affirmed again this week when another candidate shook my hand and thanked me for always being “professional and respectful.”

I am proud of that.

This campaign has been about experience, service, and the strong connection I have with so many people across this beautiful and diverse county. My 22 years of hands-on experience doing the work of County Clerk will serve Park County well. I will be ready to go to work on day one.

I want to sincerely thank everyone who has supported this campaign. To those who generously contributed financially, volunteered their time, put up a sign, made a phone call, shared a post, or simply took the time to talk with family and friends about why this campaign matters, thank you.

You have shared why experience matters. Why commitment matters. Why having a Clerk who understands that this office exists to serve the entire public matters.

The County Clerk's office is not about politics. It exists to serve every person in Park County, regardless of political affiliation or perspective. That is exactly what I intend to do: serve everyone with fairness, respect, integrity, and without judgment.

If that is what you want from your Park County Clerk, then I am ready to go to work for every person in this county.

In Park County, voting has always been about neighbors, community, and having a voice in the place we call home.

This election, make voting a family affair. Bring your kids or grandkids along, encourage a first time voter, or make a plan, like we did, to meet your family at the polls. Seeing parents, grandparents, friends and neighbors participate is one of the best ways to pass on the importance of civil engagement.

No matter how you vote, participating is what strengthens Park County. I hope you’ll make a plan to vote as a family-and I’d be honored to earn your support in my bid for County Clerk.

Together let’s keep Park County informed, engaged, and committed the the future of our communities!

Why am I asking for your vote for County Clerk?

Because I believe experience matters, especially when the job involves your elections, your county records, and your tax dollars.

For 22 years, I’ve served Wyoming in county government. I know this office, I know the work, and I know the importance of getting it right.

I’m not running because I need a title. I’m running because I believe Park County deserves a County Clerk who is experienced, accountable and ready to serve from day one.

That’s why I’m asking for your vote.

15 DAYS UNTIL ELECTION DAY!

Sasquatch has been spotted in Park County… and apparently, so have a few campaign stories. 😂

With only 15 days to go, it’s getting harder to tell what’s a fact, what’s fiction, and what might have been spotted somewhere deep in the political wilderness.

After 22 years in Wyoming government and 10 election cycles, I’ve learned that facts don’t need a tall tale to make them interesting. They just need to be true.

So as we head down the final stretch, I’ll keep doing what I believe Park County deserves: talking about the facts, answering the questions, and letting my experience speak for itself.

Sasquatch can keep his secrets. I’ll stick with the truth.

And remember: 15 days. Make your plan. Get your ballot. Vote.
Because this election is too important to leave wandering around in the woods.

The recent passing of Ann Simpson has had me reflecting on the remarkable people who have shaped our communities and, in one way or another, shaped us. Wyoming has been fortunate to have people who quietly dedicate their lives to making their communities better, and I’ve been fortunate to have known a few of them personally.

Sometimes a person touches your life when you are young, and you don’t fully realize the impact they’ve had until many years later. Someone who was first a teacher, then a mentor, and ultimately became a very good friend.

Karl Allen was that person for me.

Karl was my high school civics teacher in Thermopolis and as such, he not only taught me about history and the functions of government, but also that service to your community is important. I distinctly remember him telling us, “We all need to serve our community in some way, whether it’s volunteering for a board, coaching a youth team, being a trustee of your church, or running for public office.”

Karl was a model for his own teachings by leading groups of kids to Washington, D.C. every year, giving them the opportunity to learn how our federal government worked. He was a leader in his church, Mayor of the Town of Thermopolis, and later a Hot Springs County Commissioner. He always led with an open mind t all possibilities, with integrity, and with an eye toward the future.

Karl is one of the reasons I have such a passion for public service. I’ll tell you, public service isn’t always glamorous, and sometimes the wheels of government turn painfully slowly. But my eye is also pointed toward the future of Park County and my hope for this beautiful place we call home.

As I continue my own journey in public service, I know I will always hear Karl’s voice in the back of my mind saying, “Do the right thing. Treat everyone you meet with respect, integrity, and dignity. And always serve your community.”

Rest in peace, my friend. Your 91 years on this earth were well witnessed by many and you certainly will be missed. Thank you for being my teacher, my mentor, and most of all, my friend. All my love to Wendy and Kim.

Tonight's post is about the importance of voting in the primaries.

Full disclosure: Hans is in election judge training every night this week, so I (Michelle) have been tasked with posting for him....I decided to take a little liberty with the photo selection and offer up a "vintage Hans" ;) His post is as follows below:

One of the things I have learned over my 22 years in public service is that the decisions that affect us most are often made closest to home. That's why primary elections matter so much. The people we choose to serve in our local offices make decisions that shape the communities of Park County, protect our tax dollars, oversee our elections, and provide the numerous services we rely on in our everyday lives.

Historically, primary elections tend to have fewer voters, which means every single vote carries more influence. In 2024, only 27% of eligible voters in Wyoming voted. Some races were decided by a small margin. In many local races, the primary is where the outcome is decided.

I encourage you to take the time to learn about the people on your ballot and make your voice heard. If I have earned your trust and support, I hope you'll vote for me as your next county clerk. Park County is strongest when its citizens participate. Your vote is your voice, your values, and your investment in the future direction of Park County.

The first week of early voting is finished and Park County is showing up! We had a little over 200 early in person voters and pushed out around 900 traditional absentee ballots. For comparison this is on par with the 2024 primary and a little behind the 2022 primary where there was a hot US House race.

Political campaigns can sometimes make it seem like negativity is everywhere, especially on social media. But from my perspective, as a candidate’s wife, that’s not the entire story I’ve experienced.

Because of my husband’s decision to run for Park County Clerk, I have had the privilege of meeting people from every corner of this county sharing conversations, hearing your stories and being reminded again and again just how good people really are. The encouragement, support and genuine care for our communities have far outweighed the negative rhetoric.

This campaign experience has given me something I never expected; a deeper appreciation for how strongly Hans is committed to public service and treating people with kindness and respect. No matter what happens on Election Day, I am grateful for the new friendships (Kris Hogg...I'm looking at YOU!) we’ve made and the countless reminders that kindness is still louder than the noise.
