Code Enforcement will not meet at 5:30 PM today due to an unforeseen scheduling conflict. We will still attend the Council meeting at 6:30 PM as usual.

Beginning this week, we’ll also be sharing current city ordinances (one or two a week)along with a brief explanation of who enforces each one, since not all ordinances fall under Code Enforcement (for example, traffic ordinances are enforced by law enforcement). Each post will include a simple breakdown of what the ordinance means and how it applies. Stay tuned for more information.

It is with great sadness that we inform everyone of the passing of Larry Dale Washer. Larry was a hard worker and was fiercely dedicated to serving the City of Cloverport.

Larry was a proud father, grandfather, and friend to all. Everyone in Cloverport appreciated his efforts and he will be greatly missed in Cloverport’s Public Works Department and City Hall.

The City of Cloverport asks everyone to keep Larry’s family, friends, and his work family in your thoughts and prayers during this sad time.

Man Facebook is spicy today!!

We posted the reminder about trash cans because residents have raised legitimate concerns about cans being left out for days at a time.

Some of these cans end up in the roadway, which creates a real safety issue for drivers and pedestrians. When that happens, it becomes more than an inconvenience, it becomes a hazard.

City Ordinance 92.03 has been in place for years, and it applies to everyone equally. If you already pull your can(s) back after pickup, then this post wasn’t directed at you. But when we receive complaints, we have a responsibility to address them, even if the topic isn’t exciting or glamorous.

Trash pickup delays, missed cans, and other service frustrations are absolutely valid concerns and I hope those those issues are being communicated to the appropriate departments. But Code Enforcement’s role is to address violations that impact safety, cleanliness, and the overall condition of our community. A can left out for days at a time is a violation, and the complaints about it are justified.

We’ll continue focusing on all areas of compliance (not just trash cans) and we’ll keep working to make sure Cloverport stays safe, clean, and moving in the right direction. And just as a reminder: our meetings are open to the public, and everyone is welcome to attend, listen, ask questions, or even volunteer their time...just like we do.

A lot of work happens behind the scenes, and if you’ve ever attended or watched a council meeting, you already know that. We encourage anyone with concerns, ideas, or a desire to help to be part of the process.

Cloverport Code Enforcement would like to remind all residents of the city’s requirements for trash can placement after pickup.

Under City Ordinance 92.03 – Public Nuisances, it is a violation to:

“Leave garbage or trash cans at curbside for longer than 24 hours after garbage/trash is picked up.

Please ensure all trash containers are pulled back from the roadside within the required timeframe.

The ordinance allows the city to issue $100 ~ $250 per offense, and each day the violation continues is considered a separate offense.

This rule helps keep our streets clear, prevents wind blown debris, and reduces the chances of someone hitting the cans while driving.

🌱 Mowing Season is Here in Cloverport! 🌱

Just a friendly reminder to our residents that we are now in mowing season!

Last year, the Cloverport City Council voted to amend our grass ordinance to help keep our community looking its best. The maximum allowed grass height has been reduced, and the fine schedule has been increased.

We strongly encourage everyone to keep your property maintained and your grass mowed regularly. Not only does it improve the appearance of our town, but it also helps prevent pests, rodents, and fire hazards.

Code Enforcement will be conducting audits throughout the season and will be issuing courtesy letters where violations are found.

Let’s all work together to keep Cloverport clean, neat, and beautiful!

This is unacceptable. Please do not throw your cardboard on the ground. It blows all over the neighborhood. If the container is full there is another one located at the school. If both are full, contact city hall and we will get ahold of the detention center to empty the recyclables.
