I have served on the Clover Board of Trustees for 4 years (2016 - 2020) in the at-large seat.I have been apart of hiring a new superintendent (Dr. Quinn) and been a voice for teachers, staff, and parents. I am a lifelong resident of Clover and a 1996 graduate of Clover High School. I have 3 children that attend schools in our school district. My children attend school at Oakridge Middle School (OM
S) and Oakridge Elementary School (OES). Not only do my children attend school in Clover, but my wife is also a teacher in the district. She has taught for 22 years, 15 of those years in Clover School District. Therefore, I am not only a community member, but also a parent in our district. My daughters are my biggest WHY for choosing to run for the Board of Trustees. Not only do I live and have children in our district, but I am also a local business owner operating a financial planning firm for 22 years. As a community member, parent, and business owner, I want to always make the most fiscally responsible decisions for our district as well as our stakeholders. I served on the Board of Trustees from 2016-2020. As a Board of Trustees member, I was a part of hiring Dr. Quinn, our current superintendent. I was also a part of getting resource officers in all of our elementary schools which was a big part of our school safety initiative. I have also been a part of the partnership with York School District and York Electric Cooperative to prepare students to go straight into the workforce upon graduation from high school. As a member of the board, I attended all board meetings during those 4 years. I also visited and toured EVERY school in our district each year making sure I heard directly from staff. I was a voice for teachers, staff, and parents. I was able to celebrate successes of teachers and students, as well as listened to their concerns. You can find me at other events such as the Back to School Bash, school fundraisers and many different school ballgames. I am an active community member as well. I serve as a Deacon at my church, Clover ARP. I also serve on the Economic and Development Board in Clover and a current sitting Board of Commissioner for the SC Education Lottery. I am here to support you all to help Clover continue to be one of the BEST school districts in the state. I appreciate your support and VOTE JAY YOUNG on November 8th.
