The Mayor must commit to affordable housing. Mayors have talked about developing Cleveland’s lakefront for decades. Recently, local leaders asked Congress to close Burke Lakefront Airport so we can move forward with redevelopment. Closing the airport is a no-brainer. However, the City needs to present a plan for development that prioritizes the needs of the working class people who live here.

Redevelopment of over 450 acres is a generational opportunity to ensure everyday Clevelanders can call downtown home, not just the ultra-wealthy. Without a clear commitment from the Mayor about the future of the development, the market will do what it does best: make the rich richer while leaving every day people behind.

Instead of investing in surveillance technology used by ICE to terrorize our neighbors, we need more investment in Cleveland’s neighborhoods and communities. Without approval from City Council, the administration has been paying for Flock cameras and drones, and recently authorized a contract with ShotSpotter, both of which share data with ICE. The city has been spending $27 million on police overtime, while our streets are in desperate need of repair and our public utilities need major investment.

Our city government’s priorities need to change. Decisions such as this by the administration make it harder to trust unrestricted allocations and that’s why I am supporting steps like Council Member Starr’s legislation to bring cannabis tax money directly to Cleveland’s fifteen wards. I am committed to putting this money towards restorative justice efforts such as offering expungement clinics for residents with marijuana-related charges.

This is YOUR city! This past weekend, we were happy to join residents living in the SoLo (South of Lorain) West Blvd area who put together a community clean up event. We are stronger when we work together, and we look forward to continuing to support community organizing through Ward 12. If you want to work with your neighbors, reach out to us...or better yet, talk to your neighbor ;)

First community meetings! ✅✅

Grateful for all the residents who joined us at our community meetings. We gathered at the Eagle Kafe and Eastman branch of Cleveland Public Library with so many new and familiar faces. Delicious food from Ward 12’s very own Earthbistrocafe edisons_pizza Levant shawarma. I went over what our office has been up to, what’s coming next, and where we are going. From setting up a constituent management system to departmental meetings within City Hall, we are laying the groundwork to deliver on our promises.

While I was happy to answer questions and concerns, what stood out to me was the connections neighbors made in the meetings. We broke down our city budget that was just passed and helped demystify City Hall. We look forward to many more regular meetings and more importantly, our ward office. Stay tuned 🙏🏾

Are you a resident of Cudell, Edgewater, West Blvd, or Jefferson? You are probably a resident of Ward 12 and we want to see YOU!

Come join us at one of our upcoming community meetings. We will have an update of what we’ve been doing and what’s coming up next. Most importantly, we want to hear your thoughts about community engagement.

As the weather gets warmer, it’s the perfect time to go knock on your neighbor’s door and bring them to a meeting. We will have free food so please rsvp at the link in bio so we can have enough :)

Will you be there?

We are not outnumbered, we are out organized!

Join the Ward 12 team and help Cleveland work for the working class. We are hiring two part-time positions to deliver on our campaign goals of fighting for affordable housing, groceries, and reliable city services. These positions will primarily be in person and in the field. Our goal is to build up the connective tissue and civic infrastructure that forms the heart of thriving communities.
