Cleveland Stonewall Democrats are devoted to advancing equal rights for all people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. The CSD supports the Democratic Party and Democratic candidates who support our mission

. It draws its strength from a regional network of Northeast Ohio individuals composed of LGBTQIA+, and allied-straight Democrats who are working to achieve the following goals:

To educate the LGBTQIA+ community, and people who are supportive of it, about the vast differences that exist between the two major parties on the issues of concern to our community;

To lead our party to improve its record on issues of importance to the LGBTQIA+ community, including civil rights legislation, prevention of hate crimes, AIDS prevention and treatment, LGBTQIA+ health and wellness, and women’s reproductive freedom;

To work for the nomination of Democratic candidates from the local to the national level, including qualified LGBTQIA+ candidates, who will be fully supportive of our efforts against bigotry and intolerance;

To encourage our community to support and vote for Democratic candidates who are committed to defeating homophobia, transphobia, racism, sexism and prejudice.

Join us in supporting Colors+ as they settle into their new space at LCC in Lakewood and help give back to the LGBTQIA+ community of Northeast Ohio!

Ohio House Bill 249, proposing an age restriction on drag performances while policing the gender expression of transgender and gender nonconforming Ohioans, passes and heads to the Ohio Senate.

As the Buckeye Flame reports, "If passed, “The Enact the Indecent Exposure Modernization Act” would ban drag and gender performances outside of “adult cabaret” venues or in any public venue where a minor may be present. Public performances that meet the definition of obscenity are already banned under Ohio law."

“This bill literally singles out people who are trans, those who are gender non-conforming, and basically calls into question, ‘Should you exist in the public eye?’ That is the reality of this bill,” Rep. Dontavious L. Jarrells (D-Columbus) added. “When you talk about what this bill really is, it is an attack on human lives.”

Our endorsement meeting is NEXT WEEK on Thursday, March 19, at 6 PM at the Cuyahoga County Democratic Headquarters!

Our February Membership Meeting will be held on Thursday, February 19 at 7:00 PM at a NEW LOCATION, The W Sports Bar!

Our upcoming meeting will include a proposal from the CSD Board to increase the number of Board Members. Dues-paying members will vote on this proposal as well as our annual Board election. We will also discuss and review resources about immigration and the ongoing ICE operations across the United States.

Cleveland Stonewall Democrats stand with Minnesota and all those affected by ICE. That's why we are shutting it down tomorrow, January 30 - No work, no school, no shopping!

Following the call for a general strike from youth organizations on the ground in Minnesota, CSD will be joining the nationwide shutdown in solidarity. On Friday, January 30th, we will rally in Public Square at 2 PM to send a message to the Trump administration that ICE must go.

Join us tomorrow in whatever way you can, whether that's walking out of work/ school or refusing to participate in the economy. Together, we can make it clear that ICE is not welcome here!

The work we do to advance LGBTQIA+ equality is made possible by the support and activism of our members. CSD members have in-depth conversations with candidates for political office, create opportunities for education and engagement across the community, and are important members of the coalition of LGBTQIA+ power in northeast Ohio.

Once you’re a member, you can also participate in the CSD endorsement process, shape our goals, and choose where we focus our energy.
