Since this report was posted, a detective has conducted a follow-up interview with the juvenile who made the initial report. During that interview, some different details about what occurred on Saturday emerged (2/14). Based on the information we have now, the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office does not believe an attempted abduction or other crime occurred, and we are not looking for suspects related to this report.

We understand and appreciate the level of concern this generated in the community. We also ask our community to be gracious toward this young person and her family. Our focus is on safety, learning, and moving forward.

Any follow-up from here will be handled appropriately and privately, consistent with juvenile matters. We appreciate those who shared information and looked out for one another.

Cody Haynes is a local boy who disappeared at age 11 back in 2004. Family members say there were suspicious circumstances surrounding his disappearance and they believe the father Richard Harding was involved. If you have any information about Marla Harding (Gordo, Murray, or Goldbaum now), please contact local law enforcement. She was the last or second to last person believed to have seen Cody alive and family believes she has answers about what happened to him that night.

TONIGHT on KING 5 News

Please tune in as KING 5 News airs a segment on Missing Cody Haynes of Kittitas, Washington.

🗓 Tonight — 1/28/26
⏰ 6:30 PM and 11:00 PM

https://www.facebook.com/share/18KK7SgPag/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Cody Haynes was only 11 years old when he disappeared from his home in Kittitas, Washington, on September 12, 2004. An 11-year-old boy with his entire life ahead of him simply vanished—and for more than two decades, his story has remained unresolved.

On the night Cody went missing, he was sent to his room around midnight after refusing to do his chores. During that time, his sisters reported hearing sounds consistent with Cody being beaten. At approximately 2:00 a.m., Cody’s father left the home, stating he was going to look for car parts, and did not return for nearly 14 hours. While he was gone, his live-in girlfriend, Marla Jaye Harding (also known as *Marla Gordo, Marla Murray, and now Marla Goldbaum), never checked on Cody. His sisters were instructed not to go near his room. Cody was never seen again.

There is an 11-year-old child who vanished under deeply troubling circumstances—and a case that still deserves attention, accountability, and justice.

Sharing Cody’s story matters. Speaking his name matters. Keeping his face visible matters. Time does not erase responsibility, and it should not erase Cody.

If you’re able, please watch tonight and share this post to help keep Cody’s story in the public eye.
