If you signed up for July but would prefer a June session, the June registration link is still open. Please email us at [email protected] to be removed from the July list.

Please keep in mind that registration does **not** guarantee your selected dateβ€”some participants may be contacted to be moved to a different session to help us accommodate as many kids as possible. I will be emailing all all registrants in the next few days to confirm.

The Clayton Fire Department is leading the way in firefighter health and safety.

The department has earned National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Gold Helmet Status, a recognition given to fire departments where a large portion of firefighters participate in the National Firefighters Cancer Registry. This program helps firefighters track potential exposures throughout their careers and supports long-term health monitoring.

Clayton is one of only three departments in North Carolina to reach this level, placing the team among a small group nationwide working proactively to protect firefighter health.

By taking steps like exposure tracking, post-fire decontamination, and ongoing safety education, the Clayton Fire Department is helping make sure firefighters can serve the community safely today and for years to come.

πŸ”₯ BREAKING: Science to the Station just launched something BIG.
Introducing "Breaking Science": research that actually makes it OUT of the academic paywall and INTO your station. Fast. Clear. Actionable!

First up? A Game-Changing Study from Fire Firefighter Cancer Study (FFCCS) Researchers Who Tested 2,056 Firefighters to Determine What Raises and Lowers Exposure:

πŸ“Š THE FINDINGS:
-100% had PFAS in their blood
-Both personal choices AND department policies affect your levels
-Specific actions you can take RIGHT NOW to lower exposure

πŸ’‘ THE MISSION OF "BREAKING SCIENCE": Stop waiting years for critical research to trickle down through conference slides. When important science drops, you should know about it NOW - not three years later in a hallway conversation.

🎯 THREE LEVELS OF ACCESS:
Quick one-page brief
Deeper-dive summary
Full academic paper (for the nerds)

Because science that sits on a shelf helps absolutely no one.
