Today, September 10, is World Su***de Prevention Day.

Su***de affects every community—including ours here in Clarion County. As a Coroner, I have seen firsthand the devastating impact a su***de can have on families, friends, first responders, and an entire community. Behind every death is a person who mattered to someone.

Prevention starts with paying attention. Check on the person who seems to be struggling. Ask the uncomfortable question. Listen without judgment. And if someone tells you they are not okay, take them seriously.

You do not have to have the right words. Sometimes simply saying, "I’m here. You don’t have to go through this alone,” can be the first step toward getting someone help.

Su***de prevention isn't just something we talk about one day a year. It is something we can all be part of—by noticing, listening, asking, and reaching out.

The Clarion County YMCA is handing out BACK TO SCHOOL Blessing Boxes on Friday, September 4th! 📦❤️

Each box contains meal essentials for families with kids in need. Distribution is limited to one per family and will be held at the YMCA main parking lot from 3pm-5pm. Photo ID is required and must be presented at the time of pick-up. Pre-registration is required to receive a box of food. Registered name and ID must match.
