We’re excited to announce that City Heights CDC has officially acquired Able-Disabled Advocacy, expanding workforce training services and opportunities for residents across our community.

This acquisition strengthens our ability to provide opportunities that help residents build long-term stability and economic mobility through CareerWORKS and workforce development programs, connecting people to training, certifications, career support, and employment opportunities.

We’re honored to be selected as part of the California Resilience Implementation Accelerator.

As rising heat, flooding, and economic pressures continue to impact our neighborhoods, this investment will help strengthen local business corridors and support immigrant and refugee-owned small businesses with resources and technical assistance that empower them to adapt and continue to thrive.

Thank you to California Forward, Resilient Cities Catalyst, and Climate Resolve for partnering with us on this important effort. We look forward to continuing this work alongside community members, entrepreneurs, and partners to build a more resilient and equitable future for City Heights and the San Diego region.

Celebrating Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month 💚

We are proud to have joined the San Diego City Council in support of the ’s AANHPI Heritage Month proclamation and to celebrate the many contributions of immigrant and refugee families throughout our community.

City Heights is home to a large AANHPI community, including many families from Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia who came to the United States as refugees in the 1970s. Their stories reflect the resilience, strength, and perseverance that continue to shape the culture, businesses, and spirit of our neighborhood today.

Community voices continue to shape the future of City Heights. During the April TEAH Task Force meeting, our Transportation and Planning team alongside TEAH and BET members discussed the Chollas Green-Blue Infrastructure Vision and the District 9 Rental Junk Fees proposal. Conversations focused on community-led environmental planning, future SR-15 improvements, housing stability, and the importance of protecting longtime residents as investments move forward in City Heights.

Thank you to our community members who continue showing up, sharing their voices, and helping shape the future of our neighborhood.

Interested in getting involved or learning more? Send us a message — we’d love to connect with you 💚

Join us as we speak out against the MTS transit fare increases this Friday, May 15th at 9am at the SANDAG transportation committee meeting.

Last month, the MTS Board of Directors recommended their first significant fare increase since 2009. If approved by SANDAG, fare increases are expected to take effect this fall in a phased approach over two years. We strongly believe San Diego needs to explore all financial alternatives to address the fiscal cliff before placing a higher fare or cutting service for those who rely on transit the most.
