That’s why the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (ODEW) is thrilled to invite you to something truly special:

ODEW’s first-ever Literacy Academy for Families

A FREE event!

Location: Greater Columbus Convention Center

9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

This event was created with one purpose in mind: to empower you.

Because when families and schools work together, children thrive.

The Literacy Academy for Families will feature two nationally respected literacy leaders:

Kareem Weaver, from The Right to Read
Lori Josephson, author of Calling All Neurons! How Reading and Spelling Happen

Throughout the day, you will:

Learn practical, easy-to-use strategies to support your child’s reading development at home.
Gain a clearer understanding of Ohio’s reading laws and what they mean for your child.
Discover tools and resources that help strengthen your partnership with your child’s school.

This academy is designed for all parents, caregivers, and anyone who supports families. Whether your child is just beginning their reading journey or already growing into a confident reader, your presence matters.

Your voice matters. Your involvement makes a difference.

ODEW will end the day with a meaningful, facilitated discussion and feedback session led by the Ohio Statewide Family Engagement Center and the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.

Your insights will help shape how Ohio continues to support families and literacy statewide.
