Rye seed heads are so handsome. 😍 I sowed 2 of my big beds with winter rye as a cover crop. I cut it back once already and will cut again. It will die back after that, and I can leave it in place as mulch or I can till it in to add organic matter and boost microbial life in the soil.

My first plants are for sale! These big Bertha-sized heirloom tomatoes will be at Civic Garden Center for their Plant Fest sale this Saturday. Yes, I can promise you will have the earliest tomatoes of anyone you know. No, I can’t promise that anyone else will care about that as much as you do, but does that really matter? 😁

On offer are gallon-sized True Black Brandywine, Cherokee Purple and my favorite workhorse cherry tomato, the Chadwick Cherry. I’ve grown it for years and it’s an absolute beast with high vigor and production. Also, it was supposedly selected locally by someone at Camp Joy. If anyone knows more about the origin story of this local heirloom, I’d love to know.

The Larry Meadows is growing into something new.

I’m excited to share that **Verdigris Plants** — a small, seed-grown nursery, is taking shape here at my new place. I'm continuing what I started in College Hill—starting seeds, trialing plants, experimenting with design—and expanding into this larger space, with more room to grow plants (and ideas) about gardening with a little more intention.

I’ll be sharing what’s happening on the farm — seedlings, experiments, successes, and failures — and I’ll have a small selection of plants available locally soon, with more to come.
