Sometimes we have to drop out the old and allow the new to come in:

But many find homes in the old
And that's ok, this lizard had a home in this
old maple tree...

But after 70 years, it's time for it's turn to create new

This lizard was re-homed at our family farm and nature preserve...

Lizards are great natural predators to invasive species of insects that can harm your produce, flowers and biomes!

It will prosper well in its new conditions!

As for the maple tree...

Well maples are good for cultivating mushrooms!
Their natural sugars allow for the fruiting of some wonderful mycelium driving species.

Why waste the beauty of 70 years to a burn pile or a landfill....
When this wonderful elder can be utilized to create food and resources for our children and future generations.

Bring in the new

Not everyone wants a garden bed, but some need a new platform for containers to grow fresh herbs

Hello. I’m the Sapsucker. Sorry for the "drill bit" rows of holes I left in your pine tree.
I know it looks like I’m a carpenter with a grudge, but I’m an "ecosystem engineer." I drill those holes to sip sap, but I’m not the only one who's hungry.
Over 40 species of birds and insects rely on the 'sap wells' I create in early Spring.
Hummingbirds, especially, use my wells as a critical energy source in March before the flowers bloom. Without me, many early migrants would starve during a late spring frost.
What to do: Don't wrap the tree or try to stop me. Most healthy trees handle the "sap well" holes easily. I’m just the guy keeping the nectar flowing for the team.
I’m sorry I’m a "vandal." But the hummingbirds are alive this March because of me.

The benefits of using living mulch:
the health of your plants and animals

The natural breakdown of living mulch creates the perfect mix of fungal and water retention
Allowing microbes in the soil to flourish which makes the perfect addition to your home garden beds.

But another benefit
often overlooked is the fact that without all the pesticides and heat treated 'regular mulch' is the fact that it can easily help create
an ecosystem inside your yard!

In the picture below shows a hibernating lizard inside the living mulch,
it is a beneficial predator that helps reduce unwanted bugs and grubs in the soil and in your garden!

Let's keep our ecosystems, gardens and yards in pristine conditions for the creatures that live there.
