Knowing the metals used in construction of dash supports and how they react not only to your tools but in a crash is paramount for being able to free a pinned patient. Knowing the reactions, the limitations, and vehicle anatomy will enable you to quickly and effectively get your patient extricated and to definitive care. These lifts pictured are of no relief or dirty dash lifts done on steel and magnesium dash supports.

Understanding all of thisthis and performing this along with traditional dash lifts, center dash lifts and reshaping is something we cover in all of our classes to better prepare you to Create Space to Save Lives!

Job well done by Loogootee Fire Department - LFD! Creating Space to Save Lives!

This afternoon, Loogootee Fire Department responded to an emergency call involving a male patient who sustained an arm injury while working a vehicle. Upon arrival, Deputy Branham of the Martin County, Indiana Sheriff's Office had already successfully applied a tourniquet to control severe bleeding.

Subsequent investigation revealed the vehicle had shifted off its jack stand, causing a deep laceration to the patient's forearm. Following transport by Martin County Ambulance Services, LFD personnel remained on-site to lift the vehicle off the ground, safely returning it to an additional jack stand provided by the neighbor to eliminate any remaining hazards.
